Great product but pricey shipping
Love this product, but groaned when had to pay extra for shipping multiple quantities, despite it being a bulk order. The cost of shipping to Canada is not that high to the supplier, so why should the customer have to pay that much?

Heathers tummy fiber is escellent
This is the only fiber that does not make me feel bloated. It's helping my chronic constipation and I hope that Heather will someday look into Acid reflux. I was told I would never be able to get off medication for it but I don't believe this for a minute. Thanks for your research.

The Intro to the book was informative. The recipes were gourmet recipes. Many of them contained too much sodium, carbs and cholesterol. I was hoping the recipes would be for everyday type meals. It took me a long time getting my numbers down for blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol. Using these recipes would send my numbers back up. Got to find a way to eat without so many carbs.

Suggestions
Please make the wheat, Gluten, soy, and yeast and nut free. While IBS,doesn't cause gluten issues,I do have both IBS and gluten sensitivity and probably others do as well. My grandmother died of celiac disease and I don't want to get celiac disease so I can't take the peppermint capsules I bought because they are not gluten free. I also can't use most of the recipes because they are not gluten and soy free. I can't have soy because it makes too much estrogen in your body. You probably need to advise people that IBS might not be their only proble, and that some of the foods that are suggested can cause other problems. I am enjoying the fennel tea though.

I'm so glad you are enjoying the Fennel Tummy Tea, that is lovely to hear! I'm so sorry for any confusion or disappointment with the peppermint oil caps and gluten. All of products, including the Tummy Tamers peppermint oil capsules, are inherently completely gluten free, and there is no chance for any cross contamination where they are manufactured. The oil-filled soft gel manufacturing facility we use for peppermint capsules is actually regulated by pharmaceutical (not dietary supplement) standards. All lines in the process are completely closed, the lines themselves are within closed rooms, and there is an 8 hour process of cleaning all machines and rooms in between product runs. There is also no chance for cross contamination in our facility, where the gels are packaged, as we do not package anything containing gluten or allergens at all.

We added the allergen statement voluntarily, and quite recently. It is not required, but our policy is to give as much information about our products as possible.

If you are still unsatisfied with the Tummy Tamers, you are welcome to return them to us. You can also always return the Eating for IBS cookbook if you are unsatisfied.

Our products are medical foods meant to be used under a physician's supervison. IBS cannot be self-diagnosed. IBS symptoms are similar to the symptoms of many other conditions, some of which may be life threatening if left untreated. It's critical that everyone who may have IBS be properly diagnosed, so they know exactly what they are dealing with.

Most people with IBS do not have a gluten or soy intolerance, although many people with the genetic gluten intolerance of celiac do develop IBS as a result of the chronic insult to the gut when celiac is left undiagnosed and untreated. If you have celiac in your family you should absolutely have the blood test for gluten antibodies so you know if you have celiac or not, as this is an inherited auto-immune system disorder. You need to be eating gluten for 4-6 weeks before the test, though, or you could get a false negative.

We try to make our recipes as inclusive as possible, so they do include gluten and soy, as the recipes are really specifically for IBS and not for celiac or for food allergies. You are always welcome to modify and substitute when working with IBS recipes to fit your specific needs. Soy actually lowers the circulating human estrogen levels in the body, because it has plant estrogens (phytoestrogens). Those phytoestrogens lock onto estrogen receptors in the body, so that human estrogens cannot, with the result that more human estrogen is excreted. Researchers suspect this is why soy is associated with lower risks of breast and reproductive cancers. But you can absolutely work around exluding soy, gluten, and any other restrictions with the IBS diet - it can be not just possible but delicious!

I'm so sorry that Heather's Tummy Tamers Peppermint Capsules cause you to have indigestion. Along with taking them an hour before you eat, you should also take them with just a mouthful of water. Then, wait an hour to drink any other liquid. This will help to prevent the capsules from dissolving in your stomach, which is what can cause acid reflux.

Otherwise, you are always welcome to return the peppermint capsules, as well as the fiber, for a full refund, even if they have been used.

Heather's Acacia Tummy Fiber can take several weeks to resolve diarrhea and a month or so to resolve constipation, so it does require some patience. We recommend that you start off with 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily. Every 4 to 5 days, add 1/2 teaspoon to your daily dosage until you reach 1 to 3 tablespoons to resolve diarrhea and 3 to 5 tablespoons to resolve constipation.

Heather's Acacia Tummy Fiber is meant to resolve both constipation and diarrhea. We recommend that you start with 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily. When I tried it I found the taste to be new and very pleasant. My husband does like licorice and he likes this tea as well. As I have used it, usually three cups throughout the day, I have come to enjoy the taste very much. It is unique and the tea helps with bloating. Heather's Acacia Tummy Fiber is 100% soluble fiber that will resolve both constipation and diarrhea. Since this is an all natural ingredient, it does take some patience to reach a dosage that will resolve your symptoms. We recommend starting off with 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily. Every 4 to 5 days, increase that dose by 1/2 teaspoon total until you reach 1 to 3 tablespoons to resolve diarrhea and 3 to 5 tablespoons to resolve constipation.

Generally, it takes a week or two to work up to a dose that resolves diarrhea and it can take over a month to resolve constipation, especially if it has been severe and chronic for a long time. You should see improvements along the way though as your dose increases.

If you feel like you've followed these directions with no results, this could be an indication that you have an underlying issue, besides IBS. I recommend that you visit with a doctor to be diagnosed with IBS because there are many other conditions that have similar symptoms.

If you are prone to heartburn, then you should take the capsule on an empty stomach, one hour before you eat. Also, swallow the peppermint capsule with just a mouthful of water. Then, wait to drink anything else for an hour as well. This will prevent the capsule from dissolving in your stomach, which is what causes the heartburn to happen.

For those who are prone to diarrhea, the daily maintenance dose will be between 1 to 3 tbsp a day and can take 3 to 4 weeks to resolve. For constipation, you should work up to 3 to 5 tablespoons a day. Reaching this higher dose may take 1 to 2 months, so it does require some patience.

I'm not sure about your reference to male hormones - there is nothing in the peppermint oil capsules, or any of our other products, that would have an effect on hormones at all. All of our product ingredients are considered GRAS by the FDA, which means they do not have restrictions on their use in foods, beverages, or supplements for adults and children.

If you are taking any medications (prescription or OTC), please ask your doctor and pharmacist about possible interactions with the peppermint capsules. This is the only thing I can think of that may play into hormonal issues. I am not aware of any interactions between medications and the peppermint oil caps, but it is always best to check with your doc about your specific medication/supplement use to be sure.

If you can't use the caps, please do return for a full refund.

Great Products, even with the extra cost of delivery to the UK
Having just been diagnosed with IBS (relatively late in life, at 63), I have been recommended your tummy tea by my American Godmother - and have enjoyed it when staying with her. Relief at last!

Peppermint caps are to strong

I have used a very similar product for almost 5 years (very costly). At times, it was out of stock and I had to use some lesser quality acacia. It was light brown, gritty and not organic. I've been using tummy fiber powder for a while, and was doing pretty well. Then had relapse in June after taking antibiotics for a sinus infection, and haven't been the same...tummy fiber and peppermint capsules not working as much as I would like, but will continue to use and see if i can get back on track.

The acacia fiber had definitely changed in consistency. Not as light as before.

I'm so sorry that you are having a hard time dissolving the Tummy Fiber. Please know that you are always welcome to send back any of our products for a full refund.

The fiber usually dissolves without much effort, but on occasion, you might have to try some tricks to get it to dissolve faster.

First, try adding the fiber to an empty cup, then add just enough liquid to dissolve it. Stir with a fork instead of a spoon, then let it sit for 60 seconds. Add the remaining liquid and then stir again. This should completely dissolve the acacia.

The tea might be too hot to easily dissolve the acacia, so try adding it to a room temperature liquid instead. Once it's liquified you can add hot or ice cold water, but the fiber dissolves best in neutral temperature liquids.

You can also simply sprinkle the fiber over any moist foods, and it will melt right in.

Unfortunately, we do not have a way to produce the acacia in a pill form that would be cost effective or practical for most of our customers. Many of our customers are taking 3 to 5 tablespoons of fiber a day, which would require many, many pills. The manufacturing equipment required to produce soluble fiber pills also requires the use of binders to hold the pills together, and releasing agents so the pills don't stick to the equipment. The standard binders/fillers/releasing agents used in this kind of manufacturing are not ingredients we are comfortable adding to products specific to IBS, as many of them could be potential GI triggers.

Caused terrible acid reflux

However, I'm concerned that there is another culprit in your diet that may be causing the heartburn because acacia is 100% soluble fiber. The fiber literally can't cause heartburn, it just stabilizes peristalsis and water content in the bowel.

I would encourage you to continue your use of the fiber by taking 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily to resolve constipation and/or diarrhea. Every 4 to 5 days, increase your dosage by 1/2 teaspoon until you reach 1 to 5 tablespoons per day.

I have used this product for a few months and it's effective for my type of IBS, which is the constipation type. I cannot use any other fiber supplement as they all cause gas and/or too loose stools, and pain. The only think with Acacia fiber is you have to start slowly and build up to your own comfort level, and then stay there. good luck!

both teas taste good. the fennel is especially tasty - like licorice, like liquid twizzlers. but I'm not sure how effective they are, especially in controlling bloat and gas. the D is more under control, however I am also taking a sequestrant medication to help eliminate that particular symptom, so I can't give the peppermint or the fennel an unqualified "thumbs-up". I'm giving customer service a mid-point grade because I don't have much experience with that department yet.

Both our fennel and peppermint teas are formulated to be medicinal strength. We recommend brewing the jumbo tea bags with 8oz of water to ensure that the tea is strong enough to be as effective as possible.

To get relief from severe gas and bloating with our fennel tea, you may need to "overwhelm" your gut with the tea the first few days of use. Try drinking as much as you can, all day long, for just a few days to get on top of these symptoms. Then you can drop back to a reasonable amount of cups per day.

The peppermint tea is meant to stop pain, spasms and cramps that are related to IBS, while the peppermint capsules are more preventative. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach, 15 minutes to an hour before you eat. They also contain fennel and ginger oil, which will prevent gas and bloating. Go the tea when you need help with symptoms right now, and can't wait, or if you have a full stomach.

If you're trying to resolve D, you'll want to use the Tummy Fiber. It's a 100% organic, pure soluble fiber that resolves both D and C.

I've been using this only about 2 weeks. it seems to be helpful. I think it may take more usage to determine how consistently normalizing the acacia actually is. I am feeling, at this point, I am hopeful about this product. I am using a generous 1/2 tsp twice a day with a Fibercon generic mid-day. the tablet is easier mid-day since I'm in the office at that time. this is for control of D.

I like the refill pouch as it is cheaper and the whole package fits in the original can. I have been using the Tummy for only about 6 weeks but it has really helped with my IBS-D. I am still having an occasional case of diarrhea but it isn't everyday, so I guess I am not taking enough yet. It is so much better that I will continue to take and up my dose. If you take too much do it make you have to go to bathroom more?

Tummy Fiber Travel Stick Packs
These travel stick packs make it easy to put in my purse and have when needed, but they are really hard to open. Would be nice if they were easier to open as I have to carry something to open them with. I will probably not order them again as I can put some out of my regular can in a plastic bag or bottle.

Our newest design for our travel packets includes an easy to open laser tear notch at the top of the packet. Sometimes, the notch goes unnoticed - it is indicated with a white arrow at the spot where you can easily tear the top of the packet off.

Please try the notch again and see if that makes it easier to open.

Hi there Judith,

I am so glad to hear that you are starting to feel better after taking Heather's Acacia Senegal Tummy Fiber!

The acacia fiber can often alleviate diarrhea within a few days, because it takes the lower end of the dose range. However, with constipation, the fiber can sometimes take several weeks to fully resolve symptoms, as it often requires a gradual increase to a higher end of the dose range.

Be sure to increase your dosage gradually by just 1/2 teaspoon every 4 to 5 days until you stabilize.

For some reason the TF doesn't dissolbe as quickly as it used to.
I mix 1 TBSP TF in a 2 0z. container. Up until this last order I could shake it briskly and it would completely dissolve. Now I have to mix it and let it sit a couple of hours for it to all dissolve. I am not complaining, but i am wondering why it is doing that. As for over all I am totally satisfied with the TF,
