| I have been dealing with constipation since I was a child (I'm now in my mid fifties) and it was normal for me to go five days to a full week before going. I'd take a bunch of Imodium to try to head it off and feel like I could walk around Europe, or go on a tour and be confined in a vehicle, without fearing the worst—but I always feared the worst. It was no way to live. I talked about it with my doctor, but not very seriously. I went through a Metamucil phase, which didn't work and only made me feel bad. Glycolax, the same. The doctor suggested a drug for constipation but I did not want to go that route. Somehow, I came upon Heather's site when I was Googling out of desperation- and finally, I have found something that actually works. It has been a month and I followed her directions of increasing by 1/2 teaspoon of the soluble fiber every three days. I went on a trip after the first week and brought everything with me— travel fiber packets, peppermint pills, and both teas. I also bought travel oatmeal. I'd get up in the morning and have the oatmeal in my hotel room and the fiber before starting my day. I'd have the fennel tea if my stomach felt off and/or the peppermint tea—and armed with all of this, I felt safe and in control. While traveling! There is no better feeling than that. As I've continued to gradually up my dosage, I have started to have normal bowel activity—as in, a poop a day. I never believed that would be possible. And when I say normal—I mean it feels normal. My stomach feels at peace. There is nothing sick about the process—no cramping or bloating. I feel like the fiber is curing my motility issues. At first, I was careful with what I ate, but now I am back to eating what I pretty much always have— because I don't feel I have IBS, per se, more like chronic constipation. I did cut out dairy as I feel it upsets me (but not eggs). I drink coffee. It is a challenge to drink enough water—that has always been an issue for me. I feel like i've finally found what I've been searching for—some miracle product that I never thought would have existed., that is natural and not a drug.
