| Happily I will review your service and products: Your response to my order was courteous, prompt and very professional. Awesome! The travel packets are a much welcome product!! I used them for the first time the other night at a restraunt. I use 2 1/2 tsp of acacia 3x a day and the only thing I am wondering is if you could put a tablespoon of acacia in each pouch, that way, I could use a teaspoon and measure what I need...and if the pouch could be resealable...but that is a lot of work for you and would obviously need to increase the cost. You could have another option of putting 3 tbsp in a resealable pouch for travel for people to use on the go, measure out what they need and put back in their purse, etc...I basically always did that when I traveled, just used a plastic resealable bag and measured the acacia into that. Anyway, love this product and will definitely use it. The acacia pouch, the large one, is great, I still use the original canister I got from you from my first order. Basically, this acacia powder has been an answer to my prayers, I was ready to not try it again, but realized I hadn't been using it correctly and needed to increase my dosages. It has worked wonders for the diarrhea! For the constipation, it has taken longer to work, but now I am beginning to feel I can have my life back. I am also learning a lot about IBS, here, all these years I thought I knew so much, and now I understand so much better from your great newsletters, etc. Most of all, though, I need to tell you how much I appreciate your kindness and thoughtful help. You are a tremendous source of support for me, your patient responses to my email questions and care of people with this distressing disorder are very noteworthy. I am recommending you to my gastroenterologist and regular doctor (who both thought pysllium was the answer to my problems! So wrong!!) So, thank you so much for creating in the world something desperately needed, I'm sure you have helped thousands of people and I commend you for doing what you do!! I am trying to get our local Whole Foods store to carry your products! | I've taken this for several years, as I have IBS. I've gotten to the point that I'm pretty well managed, and have my life back. Nice. Everyone will have to find the Heather's products that works best for them, try according to symptoms, but this is the fiber I swear by. I once was doing so well, I tried to stop taking Heather's fiber, and just take the "M" brand fiber which I can get anywhere. After 2 weeks of quitting the Heather's, I had an attack. So I will keep ordering this online until we get someone in Austin Texas to carry it. But I won't stop taking it again. | |

| I don't have IBS but I do have a whole lot of gas and my dog has digestive problems. Since my chemotherapy, I have had problems with stools. I got the tummy fiber to try to bring normalicy to my gut and hopefully, eliminate the gas problem. I haven't used it long, but so far it does seem to be helping firm up my stools. | First off I would like to say that my IBS was not as horrible as some of the cases I have heard about. It would hit me about twice a month with not to much pain, but I needed to be very near a bathroom when it did hit. The tummy fiber has both reduced the amount it has happened, and lessened the severity when it does. Also episodes dont last as long now. Since I am not a severe case I take about a tablespoon twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. One of the best benefits is how regular and "healthy" my bowel movements are now even when I do not have any episodes. I can travel and fly with a lot more confidence now! I like that this is a preventative and natural remedy, rather than having an uneducated doctor tell cutting me a prescription for some pills after the fact. Thank you for thinking of us Heather. | |

| Dear Heather--I retired three years ago and, in order to improve my health, started going to a gym and practicing yoga several days a week. It made an amazing difference in my health and energy. Imagine my shock when I was felled by a first (and hopefully, last) acute episode of diverticulitis in early May. Following 10 days of two fearsome antibiotics I just kept feeling really bad and couldn't get rid of the quasi-diarrhea. It wasn't until I'd been through a CT scan, and colonscopy, and MRI, and countless stool, blood, and urine tests that, in August, my doctor finally said he thought the diverticulitis had probably triggered IBS. While he's a wonderful doctor, like most, he just hit the highlights of how to manage the IBS and I struggled along with only moderate success. (The food and drink on) A cruise to celebrate my husband's 80th triggered an acute severe attack of IBS that dragged on for several weeks. I'm fortunate that I've never had pain, just irregular bowel habits, loss of energy, fatigue, and 'general yuckiness'. When I stumbled across your website several weeks ago, I thought it was too good to be true. Although the dietary limitations are a challenge, they're not impossible to follow. After working with them for several weeks and taking over-the-counter fiber, I broke down and bought your acacia fiber product. That was the real breakthrough to my starting to feel 'normal' again. After only two weeks of taking the acacia fiber I now find that not only do I feel soooo much better, but I can actually eat small amounts of the forbidden foods (some don't seem to bother me much anyway) without drastic effects. Being able to eat some dairy by amping up my fiber dosage, means I can now try baked goods, sauces, and dressings. I'm not ready to test fate by going 'whole hog' and eating/drinking lots of cheese, ice cream, alcoholic beverages. As part of my 'treatment', I also cut back to four mornings a week at the gym and reduced some of my responsibilities that were stressful. | I just wanted to thank you for this site, as a long term sufferer of IBS and acid reflux it has helped tremendously. It seems that if my IBS is alleviated the acid reflux is almost non-existent. | Dear Heather, I ordered a can of your Acacia Fiber and I wanted to write you about my experience. I'm 28 years old, and while I do not have IBS, but I do have a sensitive GI tract, and sometimes eating an early breakfast can trigger a gastrointestinal spasm that can last too long for my comfort. I was taking Kaopectate and sometimes Imodium more often than I should have, because I couldn't not eat breakfast! The only foods I could eat that would not cause loose bowels were oatmeal (or organic oatmeal cookies), bananas, apples, and toast. However, it wasn't like this was daily or even regular. So it wasn't like I could predict it. Sometimes no matter what I ate, I'd be just fine! However, those unpredictable times when my colon would spasm were very frustrating -- especially because I'm emetophobic. Not only do I have a fear of vomiting, I also have an irrational fear of getting diarrhea, and that lead me to take anti-diarrheal medications when I did not necessarily need to. Finally, a few weeks ago, I decided to research fiber supplements. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few months ago, and I learned that the condition can cause GI problems, even leading to IBS. I came across your Acacia Fiber and thought it would be perfect -- I don't get enough fiber in my diet anyway; and while I take acidophilous pills daily, I realized those pills wouldn't be enough. Well, the canister came to my office, and I immediately took my measuring spoons, scooped out a generous half-teaspoon, and added it to my water bottle, which I then stirred and shook. I drank half the bottle in one sitting, then drank the rest over the course of the morning. Within a few days, I noticed that my stomach was behaving extremely well. I tested out a bunch of foods that I knew might cause tummy upset, and I was fine! Plus, the fiber had me feeling full quickly, so I didn't need to eat as much. I stopped feeling bloated and tired after lunchtime, too. I keep the canister at my desk at work, since I'm more likely to use it there. I'm going to keep taking the Acacia Fiber, probably for the rest of my life. | Dear Heather; This is Judy T. again who wrote to you before about my IBS-C which was so terribly bad the "you know what" was right there dry and hard but my colon just refused to work and I had to resort to manually scooping it out! Well, it's been more than a year since the diagnosis and 10 months since I found your website and the life saver Acacia Tummy Fiber. I just want to let you know it's been up and down since and it's all my fault. At first, out of desperation I faithfully adhered to your diet guide line and the Acacia fiber. Within a month and then rather quickly after that my colon was behaving so so so well there was a bowel movement first thing in the morning everyday. It went on so well that when I had to travel out of the country for a month at the beginning of this year, I was so worry to have my routine disrupted . I stocked up on all the necessary IBS supplements, Acacia fiber, calcium and magnesium, ..., and tried at first to adhere to the IBS diet, but it not easy doing so and I ended up eating everything, and you know what, my IBS still remained under controled, and I had a fabulous time. In fact when I got back home my IBS colon was still behaving so well and so I made a stupidest mistake of my life: I cut back on the Acacia intake, from 12grams/day down to 6grams/day, and eating recklessly everything, and ... my IBS came back big time !!! Luckily for me, this time around thanks to you I had the knowledge to quickly prevent it from getting to the point of utmost sufferings, I went back to 12grams/day with Acacia, started to watch my diet, and what a relief ,my IBS is gradually improving again. | an easy way to increase my soluble fiber intake | |
| I recently purchased your book, Eating for IBS, and have been so blessed by the recipes. I'm also finding the Tummy Fiber(another recent purchase) wonderful, because it's so versatile. Being able to mix it into soups or add it to recipes like pumpkin pie has been an easy way to increase my soluble fiber intake. I recognize that discovering your website on the internet about a month ago was the Lord's tender mercies to me in my desperate struggle to have a somewhat normal functioning of my intestinal system. | Hello, I don't normally do this, but I just had to write to thank you for the Acacia Fiber. It truly is amazing! I've been taking it for about four weeks now for IBS-M, and am still gradually increasing the dosage. I started to feel better right away, and the fiber, along with some diet changes, has helped me feel "normal" again. While I still have some bad days occasionally (poor dietary choices are to blame), they are much fewer, and the symptoms aren't nearly as bad or long-lasting. I was in very bad shape before taking the fiber. I was beginning to sink into a deep depression from the symptoms, and began to think that life just wasn't ever going to be good again. | Hi I just got my first shipment of acacia tummy fiber and I am impressed beyond words. I had so much difficulty getting my soluble fiber intake to an effective level with other brands of soluble fiber because I would gag on the taste, texture, and the gel that formed at the bottom of the glass. I can actually take a proper dose of acacia because it has no texture, taste, and it creates no gel. I didn't gag on it at all, it was as simple as drinking a glass of water. Because I am now able to take a dose that's right for my IBS I've noticed that my bowel activity is normalizing even faster than I could have expected. | Is It Possible To "Recover" From IBS Once And "Catch" It Again Later? | |
| I know this story is going to sound a bit odd given what we currently know about IBS but please bear with me. In January of 2005, I was downsized from an IT position at a large company. I was 44 at the time and spent all of 2005 doing everything known to humankind to secure another position with no success. Early in 2006, I had the fortune of finding and purchasing a large collection of vintage children's books from an estate and began marketing and selling them on ebay. As these books were only once-owned and immaculately stored, they began to make consistent money. It was a real relief getting the income monkey off of our backs. My wife and I even managed to take a long-overdue trip to Maine in October of 2006. This is where the story gets weird. Keep in mind, at the time we went on vacation our bills were getting paid, we weren't having any marital problems and we were excited to be getting away together. We had a wonderful time and came back renewed. The weekend following our return we had company in from out of town. I began that weekend to develop GI symptoms but wrote it off as a bug or delayed food poisoning from some borderline seafood. I mean, we were in Maine for a week, you know? I treated myself with an anti-diarrheal and the symptoms went away for a day. By Monday, it was obvious to me that it must be something more serious like an intestinal bug or the flu. Again, I treated the symptoms and tried to rest and take care of myself. The diarrhea would never completely go away and I was finding that anything I ate caused me to have to go. I was pretty certain this was not a good thing but I wasn't terrified because I had a frame of reference from my past. Let me explain. In 1987, I had just graduated from college and had not found employment. The bills were not getting paid, I was thrown out of an apartment(I was blessed to have found a duplex from a man that made deals based on his assessment of character and NOT credit reports)and things were generally not going well for me. I eventually landed restaurant work close enough to my home to walk to. I was still struggling and receiving collector calls regularly. This is when it hit me the first time. It started with every meal I ate triggering a normal bowel movement but deteriorated to every piece of food causing diarrhea. I eventually got "caught" on my walk to work and I'll let you fill in the details. Suffice it to say, I didn't make it to work that night. I went to the doctor and I was very fortunate to have found one who was up on the latest medical information. Not too much was really known back then about IBS but this doctor was able to make a diagnosis of Spastic Colon. He told me that my body was hypersensitive to food and would have to be re-trained to use it properly. He said I should start with bland foods(pasta,bread,cereal,etc.)and gradually add other foods as my body would tolerate them. If something caused a problem for me I should make a note of it and take a step back for a few days. He stressed that it was critical that I continue to move forward. [I still can't believe how lucky I was to have found this doctor when I did. I've read other people's stories, Heather's included, and can't believe the stuff that people were being told at that time and much later.] I was back to eating my regular diet within about 3-4 months. Back to 2006... I began searching on the internet for information about IBS and found Heather's site immediately. I was mesmerized! I spent hours learning and reading forum posts and interacting with her community. I realized the first thing I needed to do was to be checked out by a doctor for this. I had all the tests done and afterwards I was given, literally, a prescription form that had eight medications listed on it and the doctor just marked out the ones he didn't want me to get. You read that right....eight prescriptions on a form and all but the one he wanted me to get crossed out. I laughed when I saw it. After looking up the side-effects for the drug he recommended, I decided to try another route. I bought some of Heather's products and would try to gradually add foods to my diet. I ordered the Fennel Tea and Tummy Fiber. I started putting a little of the Tummy Fiber on all of my foods and I noticed immediately that it was helping increase the consistency of my stools as well as reducing the chance of a reaction to any food. The Fennel Tea had the biggest overall effect of calming my stomach and GI tract and giving me a weapon against any food that still bothered me. It didn't stop the reaction every time but it did give me the confidence to continue moving forward. As you can imagine, the body of a 45 year old was not going to be as quick to rebound as that of a 27 year old. Though it took me all of 2007 to get to this point, I am now eating almost everything that I used to before this happened. I celebrated a one year reaction-free anniversary on February 27th. I still haven't had my first beer but I'm so busy with my internet marketing business that I really haven't had much time. When I decide I want one, it will be slow and steady like everything else has been. I couldn't be happier with my progress. I owe a great deal to Heather, her products and her staff for getting me to where I am today. I simply could not have done it without you! My goal here is not to claim that everybody will be able to do what I have done. I realize that for many being able to get to a point where you can function with IBS is a milestone in itself. I simply want to emphasize the importance of not giving up and always keep trying to get back your life. Finally, the human body is an incredibly complex and intelligent thing. | Heather, I have been using your products and following your diet (for the most part) and have improved quite a bit. My only trouble was at work (I'm a critical care nurse and you can imagine its always stressful)- I would be fine from breakfast til around lunch and no matter what I ate I would be super bloated or in pain all afternoon despite loads of fennel or pepermint tea. I recently re-read some info. on your website and noticed that you drink your mid-day fiber before lunch (I was drinking it after). | I do not have IBS - but I am chronically constipated | |
| Various doctors over the years have simply told me to eat more fiber, take various softners and fiber suppliments... none of which have ever done much for me. A nurse practitioner told my that I have a "hypotonic colon" so for whatever reason, my body takes out more water than it should. The past year has been very stressful for me, my problem flared up and I had been unable to bring it back under control as before. I eat mainly vegetarian anyways, drink plenty of water, walk my dog, do everything they say that you are supposed to do. A friend of mine with IBS told me about your site. I am now taking 24g of your Acacia Tummy Fiber every day and am happier with my gut than I have been in the past year. None of the fiber at stores has ever helped, I have never been able to take this amount without extreme gassiness. Your fiber is organic, doesn't gas me up and it works. I love it, it has changed my life. I can now eat the occasional bit of cheese while out with friends, eat a hamburger on occasion, basically feel like a normal person again. | Suffer no more | |
| I recieved my Tummy fiber about a week and half ago. One spoon full in the morning and one in the evening after work. Something is working wonders here. My cramping and constipation are gone. Really gone. No bloating. Things are moving normally with one or two trips each day. I've eliminated milk, ice cream and hard brans like grape nuts and such. No nuts. I watch the beans like Lima beans and skin my apples before hand. Other than that its Business as usual. My symptoms were pretty severe. The cramping was debilitating. Spasms. Really hurt. Every morning for a few hours and faded as I had bowel movements.If I did. By 10 or 11 I was ok but sore down in my lower stomach, colon area. This stuff probably sounds trivial to some people but for the sufferers its serious. Life altering. Well I just wanted to thank you for this product and the information on your web site. | WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA | |
| I am not very good at expressing myself but I did want to thank you for this site. I have been diagnosed with IBS. Although I truely never beleived that was my problem. I have read a number of accounts on your website along with others. I do not believe I have the same symptoms as these others. However, as I have stated, I have been diagnosed with IBS. I tried several prescription medications, most recently Zelnorm. Although Zelnorm did sort of help, I still never felt 100%. There were times I still had all my symptoms. My symptoms seemed to develop during the night. I would wake up with abdominal cramps/pain, severe headaches and just feeling terrible. I would vomit for hours (among other issues). It got to the point I need prescription medication to try to stop the vomiting. The vomiting was my biggest concern. It could last a couple days. While taking Zelnorm, I would only have these symptoms occassionally, which was at least once a month. Without it, it was once a week. Luckily I work from home. I obtained your web site from my health insurance carrier. A nurse/nutritionist would contact monthly while on Zelnorm to see how I was doing. One time she suggested your site. WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA SHE HAD!!!!! I first bought your book "Eating For IBS." I followed the suggestions and cooked some of the recipes. I was actually feeling a better. I would only take Zelnorm occassionaly. Then Zelnorm was taken off the market. I didn't know what I was going to do. I purchased Acacia Tummy Fiber and have been using it for a couple months now. I am glad to tell you I feel 99% better. I say 99% because there are times when I do over do it and feel a bit yucky. I can actually eat a salad as a meal. | Hi; I'm a 53 years-old woman and this is my story. Up to 5 months ago I had been a healthy, once every morning person, untill a sudden, drastic change into a diet of all raw , harsh vegetables that did it. I started having miserable gas and bloatings and constipations so bad even enemas or suppositories didn't do anything, and I had to gouge out pellet like stools with my finger, yuck !!! , but my finger could only reach so far ! But IBS is an every second of every minute of every hour of every day problem and an appointment would take a month, and the most my doctor could offer was stool softener and laxative and an advise of taking fiber supplement, but Metamucil gave me hell ! Untill I miraculously discovered the Heather website , and boy how it saved my life with that soluble Acacia Tummy Fiber. I've also gained tons of educational knowledge on everything IBS. | Your information in IBS has been very helpful to me. I also ordered the Acacia for my aunt who has suffered terribly with IBS (possibly IBD). Since she stared using the Acacia regularly, her problems have all but disappeared. Thank you so much. My aunt has mentioned to me numerous times how well the Acacia worked for her. Her problems were so severe that she was having to take cortisone enemas(!) and they weren't helping. It's funny, because I mentioned to my doctor that I was making some dietary changes to help with my IBS and she told me that research had proven that diet didn't make any difference with IBS. | I found your website in February - ever since then, I've been reading up on others' experiences, following the diet, trying all your recipes, and taking the Acacia Tummy Fiber every day. I wanted to tell you how happy I am now, in so many ways, in comparison to a year ago! I work as the Production Editor for Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, a journal from which you regularly feature excerpts in your newsletters. Basically, I receive the hard copy manuscripts and carry them through the production process, until the journal appears on the shelf twice a month. Isn't it interesting, though, that for all the articles I read about IBS, IBD and Crohn's disease every month in my journal, your website is far more practical for a good quality of life for all of us sufferers out there! | Heather, I rarely write testimonials because most products – health, beauty, fitness, etc – can't deliver on what they claim to. I've had IBS my entire adult life, in varying degrees of intensity and inconvenience. Once constipation and diarrhea were under control, I feel pretty fortunate that my main complaints are stomach/abdominal pain, gas and bloating, worse in the afternoons and evenings. However, even just pain and bloating can be intense and life-impacting at times. Over the years I've tried just about everything I could find including dietary changes and supplements, and you know there are many things out there to try! Some things didn't work at all, some worked for a short time, then the symptoms returned. I was nearly at the "I'll have to live with it" stage when I came upon your website and the Acacia powder and I figured, well, I've tried everything else, and this is inexpensive, so I'll try it. I've been taking Acacia since May. I'm well into my third pouch of it, which I take before breakfast and before dinner, 1 T. in water each time. I had no difficulty ramping up to this dosage slowly, like the instructions direct. I noticed a difference after about two weeks, and frankly was waiting for the symptoms to return after that. But I'm still feeling so much better that I wanted to write and tell you. I rarely have those severe mid-afternoon stomach/bloating pains that used to either send me home or to the private break room so I could lay down at work. (Being horizontal really seems to help but isn't a viable long-term strategy!) Evenings are no longer spent with my heating pad on my tummy. Sometimes I need it, but mostly I don't. I take the acacia along when I travel, and over the past weekend away from home I even missed two pre-dinner doses, but didn't have more than a little bloating. I'll be ordering again soon and will probably be a lifelong customer! Thank you for your website and the research, information and products available for us IBSers. Susan | |

| Tummy Fiber - Truly Amazing | |
| Hello, I don't normally do this, but I just had to write to thank you for the Acacia Fiber. It truly is amazing! I've been taking it for about four weeks now for IBS-M, and am still gradually increasing the dosage. I started to feel better right away, and the fiber, along with some diet changes, has helped me feel "normal" again. While I still have some bad days occasionally (poor dietary choices are to blame), they are much fewer, and the symptoms aren't nearly as bad or long-lasting. I was in very bad shape before taking the fiber. I was beginning to sink into a deep depression from the symptoms, and began to think that life just wasn't ever going to be good again. | hi i couldn't find the address for sending my success story so I'm hoping this reaches you. I never had IBS, but have had constipation and diarreha forever. I never had a problem with gas and bloating until I had to have surgery for colon cancer, where they removed part of my upper intestine. Suddenly I had to deal with IBS like symptoms for the first time - unbelievable gas and sometimes accidents. My gastro dr. said to drink a lot of water in the morning and didn't have much more to say. I was using tons of psyllium fiber, which wasn't helping at all. On the advice of a nutritionist I found your site and ordered the Acacia Fiber - which has completely gotten rid of the problem! So that is something you can add to the list - I'm sure many colon cancer surgery survivers are struggling with this terrible seemingly insoluble problem. many thanks a fan in portland, or. | |

| Dear Heather, I just wanted to say that your product, Tummy Fiber, was a God-send to me. I had been having trouble with either diarreah or constipation and it was getting worse...It started out as an annoyance, but became where I never knew when I would get diarreah. Then, of course, constipation, after taking medication for it...It was getting really bad! So, I went online and found your website (after praying about it). I have had NO problems since I have been taking Tummy Fiber. I take half a teaspoon twice a day. It is a MIRACLE for me and I really want to thank you!
