It worked for me.

I have diverticulitis. I have been using Acacia fiber every night before bedtime for a year and have had very minimal flare ups, maybe one or two in a year. Before using the Acacia in the evening I would have a flare up every other month requiring medical attention.

Love acacia fiber -- notsomuch the peppermint caps
MUCH more effective than the peppermint - all that did was give me heartburn. I can function almost normally with the acacia fiber on a daily basis!!!

I have been using Acacia Senegal since Heather introduced it to the market and my IBS constipation is under control. I don't remember when was the last time I had an attack. Teaspoon in my morning smoothie & a teaspoon sprinkled on my afternoon (GASP!!!) air-popped popcorn-really only non-approved IBS food I eat, I swear!!-and I am good!! Heather's Tummy Fiber works very well for me. The constipation/diarrhea problem is gone, and the painful gut cramps as well. I bought some for my brother, and forwarded the information about diarrhea after having the gall bladder removed, since he has had his gall bladder removed, and now is having this problem. I can see that Heather wants to help us with high quality products, so I come back here even though there are cheaper acacia powders out there. It's not worth the risk of pain to even try them. Some say a happy wife means a happy life, well I can say from first hand experience that a happy gut means a happy life, too.

Product works O.K. but does not dissovle well

I used the travel "sticks" recently and found the product did not dissovlve nearly as well as the product in the large container. Got jelly like splotches of product several times when disolving the packet in water.

I'm so sorry you're having difficulty getting the Tummy Fiber to dissolve. The fiber in the stick packs is the exact same fiber we use in our larger containers.

Here is a list of tips we've come up with over the years to help fully dissolve the acacia in liquids or moist foods.

TIPS TO DISSOLVE TUMMY FIBER

1) It works best if the liquid temperature is cool or lukewarm, not very cold or boiling hot

2) Add Tummy Fiber to an empty cup, mix it with add just enough liquid to dissolve it, then add the remaining liquid

3) Stir with a fork instead of a spoon

4) After stirring initially, let it sit for about 60 seconds, then stir again and any remaining lumps should dissolve

5) Sprinkle on moist foods while stirring it in instead of adding a big spoonful all at once

6) A customer recently wrote us to say that he uses a Cuisinart Quick-Prep hand held blender to mix up his Tummy Fiber in just a few seconds.

I am so sorry you do not like that the Tummy Fiber is tasteless. It is meant to be that way so you can add it to plain water, or flavored liquids, and not even know it is there.

You may want to try mixing it into moist foods such as oatmeal, soups, cereals, adding it to smoothies or sprinkling it onto sandwiches or other foods.

If you would like to continue taking it with flavored water, make sure the flavored water does not have any artificial sweeteners or carbonation. Sometimes the flavored waters do have those and can actually trigger IBS symptoms.

I also see that you were not completely satisfied with our Customer Service or Speed of Delivery. I am so sorry about that! Both are very important to us. We aim to get all orders out the next business day after they are placed and use Priority Mail for the fastest and least expensive shipping methods we know.

If you have any suggestions on how we can improve our Customer Service and Speed of Delivery on orders we would gladly accept them.

Purchased for my mom who has diarrhea & constipation from IBS. Been taking for 3 weeks to experience which dosage may help to make her regular. In 3 weeks nothing has changed with her diarrhea or constipation

Hello Darla,

I am so sorry your mom is not satisfied with the product.

The cardinal rule with Acacia is to start at a low dose (for Acacia, just 1/2 a level measuring teaspoon, twice daily), and increase gradually. It can take several weeks to slowly work your way up to your daily resolving dose.

Acacia is not a laxative, and it will not give "overnight relief", so taking a low dose for a few days or even a few weeks will not alleviate your symptoms. What it will do is begin to acclimate your gut to a higher daily dose of fiber, and this is the goal. It may be that your mom still needs to keep increasing in order to see the results she is looking for.

Generally those with the diarrhea side of IBS will resolve between 1 and 3 Tablespoons a day. Those with constipation need more fiber for relief and may need 3-5 Tablespoons a day. My guess is since your mom alternates between the two, she may need to reach a daily dose between 2 and 4 Tablespoons a day.

If she is still not satisfied, she is welcome to send back the Tummy Fiber for a refund.

No difference.
I really do not see any noticeable difference and I'm almost to the bottom of the canister. Adding it to food wasn't appealing and mixing it with water wasn't much better. It never fully dissolves no matter how long it sits or I stir it. I do not have the typical constipation or diarrhea, but gas, bloating, pain and food intolerance. For these symptoms it did not help at all. I ordered the pouch at the same time and really don't want to use it. I'm sorry I ordered both at the same time.

Am gradually upping dosage of product. Still testing.
So far the tummy fiber has not produced a desired result. I am having much constipation with it, although not diarrhea (which I had before). 2 tsps twice a day seems too little, but 1 tblsp twice a day too much.

Acacia has changed my life.
After suffering for years from constipation, stomach aches and laxatives, Acacia has given me back my freedom from sick stomach days of lying on the couch. If used DAILY, it will positively work. Here's a tip: when mixed into cold liquid, let it sit for 5-10 minutes. It will dissolve and be much easier to drink. Cheers!

Hi Michel - you are right, the Tummy Fiber dissolves best in room temperature water, not liquids that are boiling hot or ice cold. But, you can liquefy the fiber in just enough water to get it dissolved, and once it's liquefied you can add it to boiling or iced liquids and it will be fine.

The other fibers on the market that dissolve instantly across all temperatures are very highly processed, and are typically refined by-products of other food manufacturing processes (like dextrin from wheat or corn). They are not whole foods fibers like the acacia. The acacia senegal is literally the entire gum acacia produced by the tree (a little like syrup from maple trees) and it is not highly refined or extracted into multiple elements. This makes it a much higher quality, and we think a much better, soluble fiber supplement choice.

You can also just sprinkle the fiber on any moist food and not bother with adding it to liquids if you wish.

I am so sorry you are not yet experiencing the relief you desire.

It sounds like you need to increase the amount of Tummy Fiber you are taking daily. Typically those with IBS-D need to take 1-3 Tablespoons a day to resolve diarrhea.

Each Tummy Fiber Travel Packet contains about 1 teaspoon of Tummy Fiber. These are great for convenience and to try the Tummy Fiber, but I would recommend ordering the Tummy Fiber Canister so you have enough fiber to notice more results.

Remember to gradually increase your total daily dose of Tummy Fiber by 1/2 teaspoon every 4-5 days until you find relief. Once you feel resolved you can stick with that daily dose from there on out.

Fantastic product
A few months past I ordered the Tummy Fiber Acacia Senegal can. I must say that I did have my doubts. I have IBS-C and along with the constipation, gas and bloating. I take 1 and a half teaspoons of the fiber twice a day. Not immediate results but gradually the bloating subsided. Still some gas but I am much more regular. I have tried many fiber products without any results and of course Miralax. This is the only product that I need now. My only criticism is that sometimes the fiber will clump up and not dissolve. Perhaps it is the humid summer that we are experiencing. No matter this product has helped me tremendously.

Heather's Tummy Fiber has made my life much better. I either have constipation or on occasion, diarrhea, which lowers my energy so much that I can't do anything that I need to do for a day or two. Now, when my gut feels like I might have diarrhea, I take 1/2 tsp. of Heather's Tummy Fiber, relax and in only a few minutes the feeling goes away, and my gut no longer feels like it is going to spasm. I am so sorry you did not find the speed of delivery satisfactory. Normally orders to foreign countries take 3-7 business days. Sometimes, however, foreign orders are held up at Customs. It is very frustrating for us as well because it seems to be totally random as to whether Customs will hold an order and for how long. We have customers that order from us regularly for years without any complications and then out of the blue one of their packages will be detained for weeks on end.

It has been our experience that Customs can hold packages for 6-8 weeks sometimes. This doesn't happen to all packages, but occasionally especially with larger orders, it can happen. A delay like this is especially likely to happen when there are Customs fees due upon delivery. Sometimes orders will be held at the local post office, awaiting customer pick-up and payment of the Customs fees. This has actually happened in the past without the post office ever notifying the customer that their package was being held. So, you could check and see if your local post office does have the order for you. If things are held up in Customs, we just have to wait until they're finally processed through. All of their contact will be with you, so we never even know if Customs is holding a package until the customer passes this info along to us.

I think is is helping my IBS symptoms. It's such a relief that something is finally helping!!!
I've also been using the Fod-maps diet, taking 10 mgs. of Elavil, and "Live Go" a pre and probiotic...it all seems to be working well together. It took about 3 weeks but I feel SO much better and am not exhausted all of the time from the energy drain of poor digestion. Thanks!!!

Best Fiber Product I have ever used!!
I have suffered with IBS my whole life and have had to rely on fiber products that often produce painful gas and bloating. "Acacia Senegal-Tummy Fiber" never causes me any distress on top of what may already be painful. I put it in my morning protein shakes, mix it with vitamin water, put it in my yogurt, and even slip it into my kids' foods because they don't get enough fiber. They don't even know it's there! I've been using Heather's Acacia Powder for many years now.
It's so much better then Citrucil or Metamucil. I love that it's all natural and gluten free. I take 2 TBS. twice a day and it really helps keep me regular. Life changing
Before Tummy Fiber, I couldn't eat out at all. Everything gave me what I call "Panic Diarrhea". Now I mix 1 tablespoon of Tummy Fiber with about 6 oz. of water two times per day and it has cleared up my IBS and has permitted me to enjoy going out to eat. Great product and friendly, professional, customer service staff. I have found mixing 2-3 tablespoons of Heather's Tummy Fiber in a 16-20 ounce stainless steel water bottle (suit to taste/texture and shaking vigorously allows me easy access to extra soluble throughout the day and prior to meals. (Keeping it refrigerated helps too.) I'll be back for more!!

This stuff is really good and works very well. It took me a couple of months to adjust the dosage and now I'm doing very well!
Luckily, I didn't start out with 1/2 tsp. - I decided that I'd start out with about the same amount of Acacia Senegal as I was using with the Equate Vegetable fiber. Between the Acacia and the peppermint pills, I'm almost normal again! Wonderful! Thanks!

Hi Nancy - I am so sorry to hear this. Can I ask your current dose? It's important with the Tummy Fiber to start with a low dose of about ½ packet (or ½ teaspoon) twice daily, and to gradually increase. You need to keep gradually increasing until the diarrhea resolves.

Tummy Fiber can't make diarrhea worse, but it won't likely help until you've gradually increased your dose a bit. On average, diarrhea takes 8-12 grams per day, for some people a bit more or less.

No problem with the product

My problems are with the delivery - hold up and cost in our customs. These 2 bags now cost me £50 (they used to cost me £25) and the last twice I have incurred £13 costs and I just cannot afford it anymore so will not be purchasing any more. I am very sad and do not know what it will do to my guts but I cannot afford it anymore especially as I have been long term sick and our government are now stopping giving us benefit.

I'm so sorry you were hit with an extra customs charge. Unfortunately, we have no control over this or even any advance knowledge of what kinds of duties/taxes will be charged on goods once they leave the US.

There is a solid reason for the sudden change in UK customs charges, however. For years we filled out customs forms with just the lowest possible value of the raw materials, not the retail purchase price, to hopefully help prevent our customers from being charged extra duties and customs taxes. The customs forms were filled out in a standardized format for all foreign orders, so the prices listed were the same across the board for all orders shipped out, regardless of the country of destination. A few months ago, we were contacted by a UK customs official who stated that we could no longer do that. The value of goods on customs forms to the UK had to state the exact value of the goods as listed on the invoices. We have complied with that request, so that is likely now affecting the duties charged to UK customers. We were not given any more details by the officer who contacted us, and when we tried to follow up and get more information we never received a reply.

I'm so sorry about this. Foreign orders are always a frustration for us, because shipping is so expensive, and orders can be delayed for weeks in customs, and then on top of it all the customs/duties fees are so unpredictable and inconsistent. We do hope to pick up an EU distributor sometime soon, which would solve a lot of these problems for our customers. Until then, we are struggling with finding good solutions to all these issues, especially for our UK customers.

There are other sites that carry our products and because they are ecommerce giants, they can offer more shipping options and hopefully something less expensive for UK customers. Here are the links to their pages with our product line:

I am so sorry you did not find the speed of delivery satisfactory. Normally orders to foreign countries take 3-7 business days. Sometimes, however, foreign orders are held up at Customs. It is very frustrating for us as well because it seems to be totally random as to whether Customs will hold an order and for how long. We have customers that order from us regularly for years without any complications and then out of the blue one of their packages will be detained for weeks on end.

It has been our experience that Customs can hold packages for 6-8 weeks sometimes. This doesn't happen to all packages, but occasionally especially with larger orders, it can happen. A delay like this is especially likely to happen when there are Customs fees due upon delivery. Sometimes orders will be held at the local post office, awaiting customer pick-up and payment of the Customs fees. This has actually happened in the past without the post office ever notifying the customer that their package was being held. So, you could check and see if your local post office does have the order for you. If things are held up in Customs, we just have to wait until they're finally processed through. All of their contact will be with you, so we never even know if Customs is holding a package until the customer passes this info along to us.

Hello Joy,

I am so sorry to hear this. It could be that you started with too high of a dose.

Taking too much acacia too fast can cause increased gas and bloating. Acacia is one of the lowest gas-forming fibers out there and going slow makes the gas issue totally avoidable. Please be patient because this really does work.

We recommend starting with ½ teaspoon twice a day (daily dose of 1 teaspoon). You can split the daily dose up as many time as you like throughout the day, just divide it by 2 or 3 depending on the frequency you prefer. Try to increase the dose every 4th day or so by a teaspoon (add this to the daily dose). If you get increased gas and bloating by jumping the dose up by a teaspoon, try cutting this in half. Some people with IBS are so sensitive they have to go up at ¼ teaspoons every 4th day. Keep stepping up the dose every 4th day or so until you find a dose that resolves your constipation and/or diarrhea. Constipation is usually resolved with a daily dose of 4-5 tablespoons/day and diarrhea/loose stools usually resolves at a lower dose of 1-3 tablespoons/day. You shouldn't take more than 5 tbsp/day. The maintenance dose is different for each person depending on their specific symptoms. Dietary changes are often necessary to make lasting changes. In the beginning until you stabilize, it works best to take the acacia before each meal to minimize the effect of trigger foods in the meal and to calm the intestines before the food arrives.

I was at my witts ends with ibs
I was told of Acacia Fiber and started to research it and found your site. I purchased a pouch and started the day I received it. (delivery was very quick) I am 2 1/2 weeks into using the product. Good Morning, I've not opened or used the packets yet - have them ready for when we depart on our travels.....however, each day I use 1/2 a teaspoon from the large canister of Tummy Tamer while I'm at home.....I've come to rely on this product because it seems to have helped me greatly. The loose/liquid stools accompanied by cramps/sweats/nausea/residual discomfort has been "tamed". Things were most uncomfortable before and I frequently had to just lie down after a bathroom visit to allow my upset system to calm before continuing my day's activities. Now, I go without much thought - the urgency has not been solved and I still need to go twice usually before the day's activities and again in the afternoon - but now I have "shape" and hardly any discomfort at all. As our travels will be in places where things may be a bit primitive, these travel packets will be a life-saver for me - mitigating embarrassment and discomfort without having to use Imodium - a good product but 'gums' me up the other way!!! I will be 76 next month, and have had IBS-diarrhea since I was pregnant with my fourth pregnancy,46 years ago. I finally found out four years ago that it was IBS, however the specialist had no idea how to treat it. He said it had nothing to do with food.
