Heather's Tummy Tea Fennel is a medical food for the dietary management of IBS symptoms. Fennel is an ancient herb with a mild licorice flavor that, through dietary management, helps relieve IBS symptoms, including bloating, gas, and intestinal cramps.
Clinical studies have shown that fennel helps regulate contractions of the small intestine and aids gas expulsion. Fennel also relaxes the gut, which can relieve spasms of the GI tract.
Fennel has anti-spasmodic properties, and is a carminative - an agent that prevents the formation and helps the expulsion of gas in the gastrointestinal tract. It also stimulates the production of gastric juices. As a result, fennel assists in the dietary management of IBS symptoms, and is exceptional for IBS bloating, gas and abdominal pain. Fennel is also a traditional digestive aid for colic, heartburn, indigestion, and stomachaches.
Heather's Tummy Tea Peppermint is a medical food for the dietary management of IBS symptoms. Peppermint is one of the oldest of herbs, with a cooling, calming effect. Clinical studies have shown that it is exceptionally beneficial for IBS abdominal pain and spasms, diarrhea, and urgency. Peppermint will not cause or worsen constipation.
Menthol and methyl salicylate, the main active ingredients of peppermint, have soothing effects on the stomach and intestinal tract. Internally, they have anti-spasmodic actions on the muscles of the stomach, intestinal tract, and uterus. Peppermint also has powerful analgesic (pain-killing) properties. Peppermint is naturally anti-bacterial, it increases gastric juices, and helps relieves gas, nausea, vomiting, and morning sickness. Peppermint contains essential oils that stimulate the gallbladder to secrete its store of bile, which the body uses to digest fats.

How does Fennel Tummy Tea help relieve IBS symptoms?
The volatile oils in fennel seeds relax intestinal muscles, relieve gas and bloating, and support digestion. Fennel tea helps release trapped gas and ease bloating and abdominal pressure, especially after meals.
How does Peppermint Tummy Tea relieve IBS symptoms?
Peppermint is a powerful antispasmodic that can quickly calm and relax the GI tract. Peppermint Tummy Tea stops IBS urgency, pain, and bloating. High volatile oil peppermint tea has compounds that rapidly absorb from the buccal mucous membranes in your mouth directly into your bloodstream.
These volatile oils in peppermint are mainly menthol and methyl salicylate.
They have two main mechanisms of action.
1. Smooth muscle relaxation
Your entire gut is smooth muscle tissue. Calcium and magnesium together regulate gut muscle contractions. Magnesium relaxes, but calcium contracts. Peppermint blocks the calcium channel, so your gut muscles can relax.
2. Visceral sensitivity modulation. Peppermint affects pain sensing neurons in a way that dulls the visceral hypersensitivity of IBS.
Are there any restrictions on peppermint use?
Peppermint is contraindicated for hearburn, GERD, and reflux.
Can Peppermint Tummy Tea be used with other IBS products?
Yes. You can use this with the Fennel Tummy Tea (brew in the same cup if you wish). You can also use the tea with Acacia Tummy Fiber. You can use the tea on the same day as the Tummy Tamers peppermint oil capsules, but do not use at the exact same time unless the tea has cooled. Hot liquids will dissolve the Tummy Tamer capsules too quickly.
How do I prepare my high volatile oil Fennel Tummy Tea?
Brew 1 jumbo teabag or 1 Tablespoon of loose tea in a cup of freshly boiled water for at least 10 minutes. The longer you brew it the stronger it will be. For best results brew it brown. Drink as often as you wish, before, during, after meals, or anytime you need immediate help with IBS.

Happy with the teas and Tummy Fiber.
Already had the tin of Tummy Fiber; but, it is SO convenient to keep a couple of travel packets in my purse for when I'm out. On my last trip I was well prepared with my packets with me; and also peppermint tea to calm my tummy. Sometimes I have such pain from bloating I have actually chewed on fennel seeds and then discard! The fennel tea is much easier!!
