I have been using Acacia Senegal since Heather introduced it to the market and my IBS constipation is under control. I don't remember when was the last time I had an attack. Product works O.K. but does not dissovle well

I used the travel "sticks" recently and found the product did not dissovlve nearly as well as the product in the large container. Got jelly like splotches of product several times when disolving the packet in water.

I'm so sorry you're having difficulty getting the Tummy Fiber to dissolve. The fiber in the stick packs is the exact same fiber we use in our larger containers.

Here is a list of tips we've come up with over the years to help fully dissolve the acacia in liquids or moist foods.

TIPS TO DISSOLVE TUMMY FIBER

1) It works best if the liquid temperature is cool or lukewarm, not very cold or boiling hot

2) Add Tummy Fiber to an empty cup, mix it with add just enough liquid to dissolve it, then add the remaining liquid

3) Stir with a fork instead of a spoon

4) After stirring initially, let it sit for about 60 seconds, then stir again and any remaining lumps should dissolve

5) Sprinkle on moist foods while stirring it in instead of adding a big spoonful all at once

6) A customer recently wrote us to say that he uses a Cuisinart Quick-Prep hand held blender to mix up his Tummy Fiber in just a few seconds.

So far not receiving the results I would like to.

In a perfect world I would love to have one bowl movement a day. I go way to much a little at a time. It has help some of my tummy Pains. I have been taking one packet in the AM and one at night. You may have a different recommendation ?

Hello Linda,

I am so sorry you are not yet experiencing the relief you desire.

It sounds like you need to increase the amount of Tummy Fiber you are taking daily. Typically those with IBS-D need to take 1-3 Tablespoons a day to resolve diarrhea.

Each Tummy Fiber Travel Packet contains about 1 teaspoon of Tummy Fiber. These are great for convenience and to try the Tummy Fiber, but I would recommend ordering the Tummy Fiber Canister so you have enough fiber to notice more results.

Remember to gradually increase your total daily dose of Tummy Fiber by 1/2 teaspoon every 4-5 days until you find relief. Once you feel resolved you can stick with that daily dose from there on out.

a great product for traveling- even going locally
I have been on acacia fiber for over two years. It has done wonders for my IBS. I hardly ever get a flare anymore. I love the travel packets because the TSA cannot refuse for you to take them on board. They really came in handy when we went to a local hotel for our daughter's wedding.

Hi Nancy - I am so sorry to hear this. Can I ask your current dose? It's important with the Tummy Fiber to start with a low dose of about ½ packet (or ½ teaspoon) twice daily, and to gradually increase. You need to keep gradually increasing until the diarrhea resolves.

Tummy Fiber can't make diarrhea worse, but it won't likely help until you've gradually increased your dose a bit. On average, diarrhea takes 8-12 grams per day, for some people a bit more or less.

If you are unhappy you are welcome to return the product at any time for a full refund. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.

The travel packet machine line was down, and we thought we would be able to get it back up quickly but the problems spiraled out of control into a major rebuild. We had it back up in fits and starts and thought each day we would be ready to ship out orders, and then something else would break on the machine. I would suggest making the packets easier to open "on the road". Couldn't tear them open and had to find a sharp object.

Very good product
It has only been a short 3 weeks, but I can already see the aracin senegal working in my system. Along with the Fennel tea, it sooths my stomach afer a meal and inbetween meals. The gas has gotten better from time to time. I still have to depend on Beano Strawberry strips and Gas X but one day I look forward to not needing them. Thanks for the swift reply to my email. This product actually works and works quickly.
I use it once or twice a day when i have symptoms. It takes away the cramps and gas and a good amount of bloating. I also have the peppermint capsuls they work as well. Purchaed your product throug Amazon i think. I have followed the rules eat soluable first and tha is working. My question is I am tryin to diet and don't quite know how to balance the "white carbs" if you will. Eating them as the most part of my meal is a little concerning for weight loss. Tummy troubles
For years I have had stomach cramping and diarrhea after random meals, never knowing what might set me off. Since I have started taking one packet a day, I haven't had any issues at all! I put them in my water along with my flavorings and I am good to go.

My advice is to try this. It works!
I was diagnosed with IBS about 6 months ago. Multiple problems. I was prescribed meds and other OTC additives, with no real relief. I switched to the Tummy Fiber and Peppermint Oil tablets only. I have had no major problems since doing this.

Delivery was exceptionally fast. Could'nt be better.
Am adding fiber slowly, as Heather suggests. If I add too much too soon, it makes matters worse. Have seen a slight improvement in aiding my IBS-D with one pack a day. Patience is the key. The small packets are so convenient.

I've been looking for something to help with my constipation and diarrhea for about 3 years. The Acacia seems to be helping. I've only been using it for about 6 weeks and there is marked improvement.
I started the Acacia in small doses twice a day about 6 weeks ago. I'm now at 3 teaspoons a day total. It seems to be helping and with the Fennel and Peppermint teas, I'm getting my life back.

Heather's Acacia Senegal is a wonderful alternative to other soluble fiber products I have tried. It is gentle and kind to your tummy, easy to get down, and does a really impressive job of soothing the bowel and allowing for better digestion. Although I have used other Heather's products, only recently tried this because I have had such problems with other fiber products. This one is a winner, and I will be using it regularly as needed. Very convenient but you have to cut the package open.

Heather, I must be doing something wrong. Nine teaspoons doesn't seem enough but if I up it to twelve, it causes Direah. I can't seem to find the correct balance. The peppermint oil pills cause gerd unless I really space them out. Any suggestions?

Hi Christine - For the Tummy Fiber Acacia to work properly, it's crucial that you start with a low dose (1/2 teaspoon twice daily) and gradually increase to a dose high enough to resolve constipation (which may be 4-5 tablespoons a day). If you get gas or bloating, that would mean you increased your dose too quickly. It can take several weeks to gradually increase up to the dose you'd likely need to resolve constipation, and unfortunately you can't rush this. Tummy Fiber is not a drug or a laxative so it won't work overnight.

I really feel for the constipation folks, as it takes some patience to start slowly, increase gradually, and eventually get your daily dose up high enough to resolve symptoms. A lower dose can't worsen constipation, but it won't resolve it, either. It sounds like you're on the right track with this, and it's a great sign that you are seeing improvements along the way.

Having the fiber at least twice a day - and you can have it more often - is also key, as you want to keep your gut filled with soluble fiber at all times. That will help prevent cramping and spasms in the first place.

I love this product & believe it is the best I have tried when trying to increase fiber. It is easy & portable! Wish it dissolved just a bit quicker... I put 1-2 packets in my 20oz water bottle, eventually it does & I wouldn't trade the convenience of the packets. I have the refillable container at home but this time when I re-order, I'm purchasing more of the packets because it is just easier to fill my water bottle with the packets... One question, I know you can bake with this, but what about adding it to Heather's Tea's? Is that an option?

I am so grateful that you chose to package these for travel. I travel internationally and once my loose powder was taken from me at customs overseas because they suspected it was drugs! Hi Gina - thank you so much for your feedback. You may want to use the Tummy Fiber in the canister or bulk refill pouch for your daily at-home fiber. This is the exact same fiber that's in the travel packets, but much more economical packaging. The travel packs are great for carrying with you and when you're out and about, but for use at home they are going to be more expensive than the can or pouch.

Constipation does often require the higher end of the dose range, up to 5 tablespoons daily. Try to gradually increase your dose and see if that gives you better resolution.

Hi Andrea - I'm so sorry to hear this. The average daily dose of people's Tummy Fiber varies tremendously, from a few teaspoons per day all the way up to five tablespoons per day. We tried to make the packets practical for the broadest range of people, especially since it is easier to use a few packets at a time than to try and divide and save for later part of one larger packet. If you are on the high end of the daily dose range you would definitely need more packets than someone with a low to medium daily dose.

The packets are really most practical when traveling, but for daily home use the canister and refill pouches are simpler.

The packets are great for airline travel. Avoids having a zip-loc bag of "white powder" to alarm the TSA! I'd like to see larger packet size, though. Currently, 1 tsp. It would be great if you offered a 1 tbs size packet as well. It would mean less packets to carry along.

Hi Arlene - thank you for your comments. My guess is that you are taking enough Tummy Fiber to help but not enough to really resolve your symptoms. Try gradually increasing your dose by about an extra ½ teaspoon every four days or so. When you get up to 3 tablespoons per day I think you are going to have better results.

The max dose of acacia is 5 tablespoons per day, so you are nowhere near that limit. In general, diarrhea resolves at the lower end of the dose range, alternating diarrhea and constipation takes a dose in the mid range, and chronic constipation takes the high end of the dose range. Please keep me posted.

I love this stuff! It works, it's easy to use, doesn't affect the taste of anything you use it on etc. I put it in my applesauce, on sandwiches, anywhere I can think of. I do have to say that apple cider vinegar also helps a great deal with the bloating. I suffer from IBS-C and it's very hard to counteract the bloating/gas/constipation that happens from eating normal foods that other people have no issues with. I also can't eat soy and many of the recipes in the book contain soy. This leave me with very few diet choices - I'm vegetarian. I really like the tummy fiber!

I'm so sorry you're having difficulty getting the Tummy Fiber to dissolve. Here is a list of tips we've come up with over the years to help fully dissolve the acacia in liquids or moist foods.

TIPS TO DISSOLVE TUMMY FIBER

1) It works best if the liquid temperature is cool or lukewarm, not very cold or boiling hot

2) Add Tummy Fiber to an empty cup, mix it with add just enough liquid to dissolve it, then add the remaining liquid

3) Stir with a fork instead of a spoon

4) After stirring initially, let it sit for about 60 seconds, then stir again and any remaining lumps should dissolve

5) Sprinkle on moist foods while stirring it in instead of adding a big spoonful all at once

6) A customer recently wrote us to say that he uses a Cuisinart Quick-Prep hand held blender to mix up his Tummy Fiber in just a few seconds.

I have really had some great results from the fiber. I have noticed my stomach has went down in size, I do not have the gurgling after eating a meal and I havn't had diarrhea in a couple of weeks. That is a big change from 4-5 times a week. I am still just taking 1 tsp first thing in the morning with my coffee or oatmeal and so far so good. I won't add up to the 2 tsp unless I start having some symtoms back!!!

Unbelievable how well this product is, so effective.
I have used many products on the market & this is by far the best. I have had my ibs problem since 9 or 10 years old & now at age 38 feel so much better. I began using Acacia Senegal Tummy Fiber in 2010 in the hope that it would calm the uncomfortable bloating that I was experiencing after lunch and dinner. Once I found the right dosage, my bloating improved considerably and I have used this product every day since then. Not only did my bloating improve, but I became more regular and my movements became thicker, smoother, and softer. Finally, with the Acacia adding to my soluble fiber base, I can tolerate a greater quantity of insoluble fiber, so I am able to eat greater amounts of healthy fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Good Product, delayed delivery due to x-mas rush
These sachets are good for travelling. I was worried about taking a nondescript white powder through customs if I took some from my acacia can at home so I left it behind. Flights are horrid for me but planning well and bringing lots of safe food helped. I know these will help when I have to fly back from NZ to the USA. I received these later than usual in NZ because of the seasonal postal delays around December.

Great for traveling
These are so much more convenient for traveling. I can slip them in my purse or carry on instead of trying to pack a huge packet or measuring out the amount I need. They also work great if you have a friend who wants to try it (they're like little sample packs!)

Happily I will review your service and products: Your response to my order was courteous, prompt and very professional. Awesome! The travel packets are a much welcome product!! I used them for the first time the other night at a restraunt. I use 2 1/2 tsp of acacia 3x a day and the only thing I am wondering is if you could put a tablespoon of acacia in each pouch, that way, I could use a teaspoon and measure what I need...and if the pouch could be resealable...but that is a lot of work for you and would obviously need to increase the cost. You could have another option of putting 3 tbsp in a resealable pouch for travel for people to use on the go, measure out what they need and put back in their purse, etc...I basically always did that when I traveled, just used a plastic resealable bag and measured the acacia into that. Anyway, love this product and will definitely use it. The acacia pouch, the large one, is great, I still use the original canister I got from you from my first order. Basically, this acacia powder has been an answer to my prayers, I was ready to not try it again, but realized I hadn't been using it correctly and needed to increase my dosages. It has worked wonders for the diarrhea! For the constipation, it has taken longer to work, but now I am beginning to feel I can have my life back. I am also learning a lot about IBS, here, all these years I thought I knew so much, and now I understand so much better from your great newsletters, etc. Most of all, though, I need to tell you how much I appreciate your kindness and thoughtful help. You are a tremendous source of support for me, your patient responses to my email questions and care of people with this distressing disorder are very noteworthy. I am recommending you to my gastroenterologist and regular doctor (who both thought pysllium was the answer to my problems! So wrong!!) So, thank you so much for creating in the world something desperately needed, I'm sure you have helped thousands of people and I commend you for doing what you do!! I am trying to get our local Whole Foods store to carry your products! I have IBS-D. Although the tummy fiber helped with gas, it increased the number of stools I had and made them softer. I'm sure this works great for some, but not as much for me.

Life saver Acacia Tummy Fiber
Dear Heather; This is Judy T. again who wrote to you before about my IBS-C which was so terribly bad the "you know what" was right there dry and hard but my colon just refused to work and I had to resort to manually scooping it out! Well, it's been more than a year since the diagnosis and 10 months since I found your website and the life saver Acacia Tummy Fiber. I just want to let you know it's been up and down since and it's all my fault. At first, out of desperation I faithfully adhered to your diet guide line and the Acacia fiber. Within a month and then rather quickly after that my colon was behaving so so so well there was a bowel movement first thing in the morning everyday. It went on so well that when I had to travel out of the country for a month at the beginning of this year, I was so worry to have my routine disrupted . I stocked up on all the necessary IBS supplements, Acacia fiber, calcium and magnesium, ..., and tried at first to adhere to the IBS diet, but it not easy doing so and I ended up eating everything, and you know what, my IBS still remained under controled, and I had a fabulous time. In fact when I got back home my IBS colon was still behaving so well and so I made a stupidest mistake of my life: I cut back on the Acacia intake, from 12grams/day down to 6grams/day, and eating recklessly everything, and ... my IBS came back big time !!! Luckily for me, this time around thanks to you I had the knowledge to quickly prevent it from getting to the point of utmost sufferings, I went back to 12grams/day with Acacia, started to watch my diet, and what a relief ,my IBS is gradually improving again. I can't say this enough, but I don't know how my life would be without your Acacia Tummy Fiber and your website. Again I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It truly is amazing!
Hello, I don't normally do this, but I just had to write to thank you for the Acacia Fiber. It truly is amazing! I've been taking it for about four weeks now for IBS-M, and am still gradually increasing the dosage. I started to feel better right away, and the fiber, along with some diet changes, has helped me feel "normal" again. While I still have some bad days occasionally (poor dietary choices are to blame), they are much fewer, and the symptoms aren't nearly as bad or long-lasting. I was in very bad shape before taking the fiber. I was beginning to sink into a deep depression from the symptoms, and began to think that life just wasn't ever going to be good again. Acacia Fiber
Heather, I have been using your products and following your diet (for the most part) and have improved quite a bit. My only trouble was at work (I'm a critical care nurse and you can imagine its always stressful)- I would be fine from breakfast til around lunch and no matter what I ate I would be super bloated or in pain all afternoon despite loads of fennel or pepermint tea. I recently re-read some info. on your website and noticed that you drink your mid-day fiber before lunch (I was drinking it after). Can I just tell you that I took this advice today and have not had a stomach ache all day at work!! Amazing, I can't remember a work day that I have felt fine. Thank you for giving my life back
Hi; I'm a 53 years-old woman and this is my story. Up to 5 months ago I had been a healthy, once every morning person, untill a sudden, drastic change into a diet of all raw , harsh vegetables that did it. I started having miserable gas and bloatings and constipations so bad even enemas or suppositories didn't do anything, and I had to gouge out pellet like stools with my finger, yuck !!! , but my finger could only reach so far ! My Gastroenterologist was good in quickly diagnosing IBS even before all other tests came out negative,and he was sympathetic saying he'd work with me. But IBS is an every second of every minute of every hour of every day problem and an appointment would take a month, and the most my doctor could offer was stool softener and laxative and an advise of taking fiber supplement, but Metamucil gave me hell ! Untill I miraculously discovered the Heather website , and boy how it saved my life with that soluble Acacia Tummy Fiber. I've also gained tons of educational knowledge on everything IBS.
