I bought this product to treat constipation (side effect of medication). Also I needed something with no additives.

Have not noticed much improvement in constipation. I do tolerate the product. I have interstitial cystitis, not IBS.

Hi Donna -I'm so sorry to hear this, please hang in there, the tummy fiber won't help you until there is enough of it in your gut 24/7 to regulate motility. In the meantime everything that is impacting your gut will keep impacting it. It's a process to work up your dose, and if you just started that you're still on a very low end. Details:

There are two kinds of fiber, insoluble and soluble. Insoluble is a stimulant and can set off IBS symptoms, and if you have strictures it can cause intestinal blockages. The tummy fiber is pure soluble fiber so it won't do that - it can't. It's not a stimulant, it's a bowel motility regulator. It can't cause blockages, diarrhea, or constipation, but it also will not help you until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, 24/7, to regulate motility.

In the meantime, everything else will keep impacting your gut and you will likely keep fluctuating day to day. The tummy fiber is 100% soluble fiber, it can't make anything worse, but it also will not help you with just the first dose or two, or first few days or two. For constipation, it likely won't help the first week or two either. This is because you are starting at a low dose that won't do anything at all, it is just to get your gut used to more fiber gradually. All fibers are indigestible, so you always want to increase fiber slowly and steadily,

Do not skip doses, do not jump your dose up and then down and then up and then down, do not skip days - none of this will work. This is a process, it can't be erratic, it takes some time and patience, and you have to follow the process consistently, day in and day out, or soluble fiber will not do what you want it to do.

You need to start with just ½ teaspoon twice daily and then gradually increase. Add an extra ½ teaspoon to just one of your doses, every 3-4 days. So add an extra ½ teaspoon to your morning dose, wait 3-4 days and then add an extra ½ teaspoon to your evening dose, wait 3-4 days and then increase your morning dose again, etc. You'll keep following that pattern and gradually work up to the dose your gut needs for normal motility. A rough average final dose for diarrhea is 1-3 Tablespoons per day total, for alternating diarrhea/constipation probably 2-3 Tablespoons per day total, and constipation a likely 3-5 Tablespoons per day total. That shows you the huge dose range, and also how far you will likely have to increase from the starting dose of just ½ teaspoon twice a day.

The fiber cannot make anything worse, but again, until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, it won't help you either, because it has to reach the point where it can control your bowel motility. You just will not have enough of it in your gut to affect you at all until you have worked your way far enough into the process.

I will tell you candidly it will probably take you a few months to work up to the dose you would need to resolve chronic constipation, and in the meantime you'll still have symptoms, and you may need to use laxatives if you're already doing that. You should see improvements kick in as you gradually get your dose up around 3 tablespoons per day total, and then you'd keep gradually increasing until you feel stable day and day out. You can't just jump to this dose though - fiber does not work that way. I wish it did! But you have to gradually get your gut used to more fiber, and then reach the point you need for motility regulation. Once you hit that you stay at whatever that dose is, morning and evening, as soluble fiber literally only works when it is physically present in your gut.

My only complaint is that it seems they've changed where the packaging tears open. It used to tear at the side and it was easy and great. Now it tears at the back where the sides overlap and it's messy and difficult to open.

This stuff is wonderful! It actually works extremely well when taken as directed!
I am 66 years old and have suffered from constipation (sometimes diarrhea when I was younger), gas, bloating and stomach pains since in my 20s. The constipation and discomfort has been significantly worse in the last 10 years. My dr. said it would and just take laxatives.(My colonoscopy showed nothing at all wrong with my colon) I had usually used Metamucil in the past. I tried prescription IBS drugs that were extremely expensive and didn't work for me. After a month of taking Heatherss tummy fiber, along with proper diet, sufficient water and exercise my ability to have normal, daily bowl movements is better than it's been in 40 years! I am amazed! I do admit I am still having some stomach pain which I still have to figure out.

I had tried everything! This fiber works super great mixed in a smooth OR lukewarm water. I put about 1/4 cup water in micro for 12 seconds, use a fork to which the fiber in slowly. Then I add more water & drink it down. No lumps and almost undetectable taste! Helps me to be regular.

I developed post infectious IBS-d and have been battling it for 8 mos. After 18 tests and thousands of hours of research I found Heathers product and it has been a God send. Significantly reduced urgency and improved stool consistency from watery to firmer. Now I only consume soluble fiber and minimal insoluble fiber to reduce bathroom visits. I also recommend a high count CFU probiotic (50 billion+) after the antibiotics regimen. Also in combination with Heathers product I have been making my own mint tea to drink before meals, and taking HMO powder supplement from LayerOrigin. That supplement helps to rebuild a destroyed or compromised microbiome.

I love Acacia Tummy fiber
I have been using Heather's Tummy Fiber daily for 10 years. I find that a daily dose of 2-3 t in 8 oz of water, taken before breakfast, is effective at relieving my constipation due to IBS. I order from Heather's on-line and the package is usually delivered within a few business days. I have only once in 10 years experienced a customer service issue when I did not receive my order of Heather's Tummy Fiber package during the early pandemic when the USPS was losing and not reliably delivering mail. Smell & dissolving

Followed ALL instructions to get this to dissolve. ONLY way I've gotten it to dissolve is with very warm to hot water in a shaker bottle. No other way has worked. It also has a REAL offensive odor once mixed, like dirt or mold.

Hi Donna - I am so very sorry to hear this. The acacia is granulated to dissolve fastest in room temp liquids, not hot or cold, but even easier you can just add the powder right into any moist food. It will disappear.
The acacia should be totally odorless and tasteless, even in plain water. And it is actually a natural mold and mildew retardant (soluble fiber can't support the growth), so this makes no sense.
Please let me know how many cans or pouches are in play, and we will replace them for you.

I've been having issues for a little over a year. They can't find anything wrong but nothing moves in its own. With the prescription meds, I couldn't leave the house until afternoon. I've been trying and taking so many things to find relief. I've been in this for a few weeks now. I'm currently using a tsp in the morning and one at night. I'm finally feeling more like myself. You may want to just add the powder right into moist foods with breakfast/dinner and not have it in a cup of liquid. Sometimes for folks who are prone to nausea (and bloating) just having a big glass of liquid can set things off. Decades of Struggle - until I found Heather's
I have struggled with constipation my whole life and last year had a diagnosis of Collagenous Colitis. Traditional fiber products made my symptoms worse. I have used Heather's for 3 months. I followed the directions to slowly increase the dosage and stuck with it the first month out of desperation. Finally on month 2, I started to see results. Now, the constipation is gone and I am experiencing a new normal. My only complaint is that the product has a very narrow temperature range at which it will dissolve. But that is a minor inconvenience compared to the result. Thank you Heather's. I HIGHLY recommend this product!

When I started up with you again after my stroke and ordered the fiber I thought it would come in a box. I do not have one and I am worried that the bag will tear or the fiber will go stale. Can you send me an empty fiber box please!

Thank you Heather for making helpful products for the "GUT". I have experimented w/ the right amount of "tummy fiber" and have gotten it to a good point. I have diverticulitis & "osis" too. Recently have talked to a Gastroenterologist, had (blood) lab work drawn, & a stool sample given for analysis. My doctor is very thorough to say the least. In next few days I will have her thoughts & plans for what we do next. Your tummy fiber has helped me tremendously after several years of discomfort. Heather's Tummy Fiber changed our lives!
I have IBS with constipation and since using Tummy Fiber, I rarely have a problem anymore. My husband had to have half his colon removed. The Tummy Fiber helps him to avoid diarrhea most of the time. We both never want to live without it. Other fibers used to really bloat me and upset my stomach. This doesn't. I have had a problem with my bowels my entire life and now I rarely have a problem. I am so grateful for this product and Heather. I read all the great reviews and for a long time didn't try it because I thought it would be like everything else I have tried in the past, with more side effects than the problem. Finally, after a period of swings between diarrhea and constipation I decided to try it. I started slowly and then added a little more weekly until I had normal bowel movements. I have never stopped taking it since. We by it by the case so there is no chance of running out of it. I order again, long before necessary so that I always have it on hand. I would never want to go back to having the problems I had before I tried Heather's Tummy Care. For us, it is a miracle product. I am so grateful that this product is available to all of us who have been miserable with IBS.

Only thing that has helped my lower left gut pain that no one has ever figured out
Important to follow the instructions and slowly increase the dose until relief. For me it came at 2 tablespoons twice a day, but it takes a long time of non relief to get there! Now, as long as I stay with it I am nearly symptom free.

Got my life back
I have been using these products for a while and I can say that nothing else puts my IBS in a state of remission as the acacia fiber.
