Nothing had helped my collagenous colitis until I started Heather's Acacia Tummy Fiber. It took about a month, but what a difference! I have recommended this product to a number of people and am trying to get my local health food store to carry it.

Excellent product!
It finally dawned on me that I need to add Heather's Tummy fiber to food twice a day. My belly is so much happier! There are other companies that sell acacia senegal, but I know Heather's offers consistently superior products. Plus, the cans are attractive, and it's nice to be able to refill from the slightly less expensive pouches. Customer service is fast, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Very easy to use and great results!
After a lifetime of unpleasant and painful tummy problems I'm finally incorporating daily fiber. This is the only brand that can be mixed into anything I'm eating or drinking and I couldn't detect it if I tried! It's very fine, melts immediately into smoothies, oatmeal, chia pudding, even mixed into avocado toast. Because of that, I'm using it every single day and I haven't had a stomachache since I started. I've noticed it's also helping with weight loss as it makes me feel fuller if it's added to what I'm eating. I'm so happy I found Heather's! Also, when I emailed with a question regarding fiber and cholesterol, Heather herself replied the same day, as did another employee. I'd recommend the Tummy Fiber 100%!

I don't have IBS, but have a sensitive bladder, and needed something pure and gentle to help me get and stay more regular. This arrived quickly and has worked well. I appreciated the clear instructions on the packaging about how to start and then increase the dose from there. First product I have purchased that has made a difference in my system.
Came across this product by accident. Decided I was going to give it a try. I did listen to the videos first before purchasing. Only been taking it a month and I definitely can tell a difference. Much improved, very happy so far
I started with 1/2 tsp, as requested, and I noticed a difference in just one day. I have gradually increased to 2 tsp (twice a day) and the sudden urgency is gone and the whole cycle is more gentle. I am still trying to get the proper balance, and I hope the increasing dosage will get things back to reasonably normal. Not for me
I desperately wanted notice a difference. Didn't happen. I was taking 4 heaping TBLSPs and nothing changed. Also, the product was an absolute pain to work with. It never fully dissolved.....IN ANYTHING!!! I tried hot, cold, liquid, food, spoon, shaking, blender....always had a clump of white sticky gel. With the amount I was taking and needed a higher dose, too expensive to keep buying. The bright spot was the customer service. They were so encouraging and informative as to suggested uses and safety of the product. Very sweet and helpful. Unfortunately for me, this will be the 1st but last time I purchase this product, but I truly appreciate the customer service of this company!!

Hi Frank - please hang in there, the tummy fiber is a process and not likely to resolve symptoms in just a week. Keep following the gradual dose increase process until diarrhea resolves (likely 1-2 T per day total), and it will take longer for constipation, probably ending up around 3-5 T per day total. Go slow and steady, you should see improvements as you work up your dose, and when you hit the dose where you feel stable, day in / day out, that's where you stay.

It's helping some, but not enough yet. Hard to find the "sweet spot" for the amount.

I wish there was some sort of customer support where I could ask specific questions and have them answered. I have IBS-C and take large amounts of Magnesium (Calm) daily (twice a day) in order to be able to have bowel movements. I'm trying to wean myself off of Calm while at the same time increase my use of the tummy fiber. I'm struggling to do this successfully and would love to get support on it. I don't know if the tummy fiber can work well for me. I used it successfully in the past, but my IBS has gotten a lot worse since then. I haven't had a normal bowel movement in many years now. I'm hoping the tummy fiber can change that, but even though I gradually increased the amount, I got increased bloating and gas, so I had to back off again. I know I need more than what I'm taking (2 tsp. twice a day), but even with increasing it slowly while decreasing the magnesium, I've had a hard time of it. I'm going to keep trying, though, and will hopefully have success with the product (if I do, I will either change my review or write a new one). I have two more containers of the tummy fiber, which should be enough for me to see if it will work for me or not.

Hi Marilyn - please hang in there, constipation often ends up taking a high end of the dose range, and it takes a while to get there. For constipation, it likely won't help the first week or two either. This is because you are starting at a low dose that won't do anything at all, it is just to get your gut used to more fiber gradually. All fibers are indigestible, so you always want to increase fiber slowly and steadily,

Do not skip doses, do not jump your dose up and then down and then up and then down, do not skip days - none of this will work. This is a process, it can't be erratic, it takes some time and patience, and you have to follow the process consistently, day in and day out, or soluble fiber will not do what you want it to do.

You need to start with just ½ teaspoon twice daily and then gradually increase. Add an extra ½ teaspoon to just one of your doses, every 3-4 days. So add an extra ½ teaspoon to your morning dose, wait 3-4 days and then add an extra ½ teaspoon to your evening dose, wait 3-4 days and then increase your morning dose again, etc. You'll keep following that pattern and gradually work up to the dose your gut needs for normal motility. A rough average final dose for diarrhea is 1-3 Tablespoons per day total, for alternating diarrhea/constipation probably 2-3 Tablespoons per day total, and constipation a likely 3-5 Tablespoons per day total. That shows you the huge dose range, and also how far you will likely have to increase from the starting dose of just ½ teaspoon twice a day.

The fiber cannot make anything worse, but again, until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, it won't help you either, because it has to reach the point where it can control your bowel motility. You just will not have enough of it in your gut to affect you at all until you have worked your way far enough into the process.

I will tell you candidly it will probably take you a few months to work up to the dose you would need to resolve chronic constipation, and in the meantime you'll still have symptoms, and you may need to use laxatives if you're already doing that. You should see improvements kick in as you gradually get your dose up around 3 tablespoons per day total, and then you'd keep gradually increasing until you feel stable day and day out. You can't just jump to this dose though - fiber does not work that way. I wish it did! But you have to gradually get your gut used to more fiber, and then reach the point you need for motility regulation. Once you hit that you stay at whatever that dose is, morning and evening, as soluble fiber literally only works when it is physically present in your gut.

Great Hopes but...
I had high hopes for this product Tummy Fiber Acacia but it gave me a lot of gas. I cut down to 1/4 tsp and then 1/8 tsp and same results. I have stopped taking it and will try again with less than an 1/8 tsp in hopes it will not give me so much gas. It might take me longer to get to were I want to be but I will give it one last try. Wonderful product!
I have been suffering since 2008 with IBS, sometimes several times a week. I would have episodes that would last from 1 day to 2 weeks, where I lost 6 lbs in a short amount of time. Tried eating bland, sometimes helped, sometimes not. Very embarrassing when it kicks in on an airplane, and had to jump ahead of an older lady to make it to the bathroom in time. Wonderful product to feed our gut microbiome!

Didn't work for constipation

I wanted to love this product. I love the concept, that it is natural and organic. However, after weeks of using it, it has done nothing for my constipation. The effect on bloating and has been minimal. Too bad.

Hi - I'm so sorry you have not had good results, please hang in there, the tummy fiber won't help you until there is enough of it in your gut 24/7 to regulate motility. In the meantime everything that is impacting your gut will keep impacting it. It's a process to work up your dose and constipation often takes the higher end of the dose range, so some time to work up to that. Details:

There are two kinds of fiber, insoluble and soluble. Insoluble is a stimulant and can set off IBS symptoms, and if you have strictures it can cause intestinal blockages. The tummy fiber is pure soluble fiber so it won't do that - it can't. It's not a stimulant, it's a bowel motility regulator. It can't cause blockages, diarrhea, or constipation, but it also will not help you until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, 24/7, to regulate motility.

In the meantime, everything else will keep impacting your gut and you will likely keep fluctuating day to day. The tummy fiber is 100% soluble fiber, it can't make anything worse, but it also will not help you with just the first dose or two, or first few days or two. For constipation, it likely won't help the first week or two either. This is because you are starting at a low dose that won't do anything at all, it is just to get your gut used to more fiber gradually. All fibers are indigestible, so you always want to increase fiber slowly and steadily,

Do not skip doses, do not jump your dose up and then down and then up and then down, do not skip days - none of this will work. This is a process, it can't be erratic, it takes some time and patience, and you have to follow the process consistently, day in and day out, or soluble fiber will not do what you want it to do.

You need to start with just ½ teaspoon twice daily and then gradually increase. Add an extra ½ teaspoon to just one of your doses, every 3-4 days. So add an extra ½ teaspoon to your morning dose, wait 3-4 days and then add an extra ½ teaspoon to your evening dose, wait 3-4 days and then increase your morning dose again, etc. You'll keep following that pattern and gradually work up to the dose your gut needs for normal motility. A rough average final dose for diarrhea is 1-3 Tablespoons per day total, for alternating diarrhea/constipation probably 2-3 Tablespoons per day total, and constipation a likely 3-5 Tablespoons per day total. That shows you the huge dose range, and also how far you will likely have to increase from the starting dose of just ½ teaspoon twice a day.

The fiber cannot make anything worse, but again, until you gradually work up to enough of it in your gut, it won't help you either, because it has to reach the point where it can control your bowel motility. You just will not have enough of it in your gut to affect you at all until you have worked your way far enough into the process.

I will tell you candidly it will probably take you a few months to work up to the dose you would need to resolve chronic constipation, and in the meantime you'll still have symptoms, and you may need to use laxatives if you're already doing that. You should see improvements kick in as you gradually get your dose up around 3 tablespoons per day total, and then you'd keep gradually increasing until you feel stable day and day out. You can't just jump to this dose though - fiber does not work that way. I wish it did! But you have to gradually get your gut used to more fiber, and then reach the point you need for motility regulation. Once you hit that you stay at whatever that dose is, morning and evening, as soluble fiber literally only works when it is physically present in your gut.

My IBS flare ups had subsided until just a few months ago when it started again. I had not taken the Tummy Fiber and as a result it expired on my counter. My IBS symptoms really got a hold of me. I ordered the fiber and within 3 days it was in my mailbox. I thought it was crushed because the mail carrier just "made" it fit. Anyway, thanks that it was not a can, everything was okay. Started taking it at once and by the second dose I felt some kind of relief. As of the writing of this email, my symptoms have gone down to a level of civility. I do have a question, when all returns to normal, do I need to continue to take the fiber or will this be an on going thing for life? Anyway, I recommend the fiber 100%. The peppermint pills are very strong for me. I took them and my acid reflux went on the rampage.

Hi Leona -no worries, the tummy fiber is super easy to use, just add the powder right into moist foods with breakfast and dinner. Full use details: We recommend starting with 1/2 teaspoon twice a day (daily dose of 1 teaspoon total). Every 4 days or so, add an extra 1/2 teaspoon to one of your daily doses. Alternate which dose you increase so you are going slow and steady.

Keep stepping up your dose every 3-5 days or so until you gradually reach the dose that resolves your constipation and/or diarrhea.

In general, constipation resolves at 3-5 tablespoons/day and diarrhea at a lower dose, typically 1-3 tablespoons/day. If your symptoms resolve at a lower dose than is typical, stay there. If you need more than the average dose, that is just fine, continue to gradually increase. The maximum daily dose is 5 tablespoons per day.

The maintenance dose is different for each person depending on their specific symptoms.

The fiber will work regardless of how you take it - added to plain water, sprinkled over moist foods, added to foods you cook, on an empty stomach, full stomach, etc. In general, it's usually most helpful to take the fiber right before or right in a meal as it will help keep your gut calm after you eat.

Best for Chronic Constipation
I have been suffering with chronic constipation and a pelvic dysfunction physical therapist recommended that I try Heather's Tummy Fiber Acacia Senegal. Using this product has allowed me to not only have regular bowel movements but I don't have to rush to the bathroom or have burning skin like I would if I used a laxative. Getting to the right amount to use each day requires patience and tracking as to how long you've been taking an increased daily amount but it is definitely worth it.
