My IBS education and support site is HelpForIBS.com, the world’s largest IBS community, which reaches over 5 million people a year. I’ve personally had IBS since age 9, and am now considered the foremost "patient-expert" on Irritable Bowel Syndrome in America.
My work has been noted in press across America and internationally, from The Boston Globe and Newsweek to USA Today, National Public Radio, and PBS. My writing has led to inclusion in Google Scholar, the 4th edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Amazon Authors. Novartis Pharmaceuticals has licensed my dietary information and IBS recipes.
My first book, Eating for IBS, was a finalist for the IACP Julia Child cookbook award, which celebrates the most outstanding food and beverage publications. The award, the "Crystal Whisk", has become the industry's most coveted acknowledgement of excellence in the cookbook publishing world.

Heather Van Vorous has lived with Irritable Bowel Syndrome since age 9, though she wasn’t formally diagnosed until her mid-teens. Her work began in the 1990s as an email series and eventually evolved into the world’s largest IBS patient support website, HelpForIBS.com, serving over 5 million visitors annually.
In 2001, she launched Heather’s Tummy Care, offering organic medical foods and dietary products designed to prevent and relieve IBS symptoms. The company operates a certified-organic, robot-driven processing facility outside Seattle.
Heather’s work has been publicized across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand. She’s recognized as America’s foremost IBS patient-expert. Her books, media appearances, and classes receive ongoing attention.
