This stuff is a lifesaver...

Did not work as I had hoped

I was hoping the was the magic bullet for my IBD. After doing much research I decided to try Heather's product. Sadly, it did not see results or remedy for my symptoms.

Hi Patti - I'm so sorry to hear this. For the fiber, it is important that you start with a low dose twice daily and gradually increase. You may need to eventually work your way up to several tablespoons per day, total, to resolve symptoms. Diarrhea usually resolves at a lower dose than constipation. The starting dose is just 1/2 teaspoon twice daily, and that is just to get your gut used to more fiber. Then you would gradually increase, and keep gradually increasing, until you feel you are stable.

If you cannot get good results please do return everything for a full refund.

I believe it is working after suffering for over 50 yrs.
I am 86 yrs. old and have, what I now know is IBS. Nothing I have ever been told to do has worked until I read about Heather. God must have sent me to her because I am using the Acacia travel packets when I go out for the day and now have the Can of Acacia for when I am home. I am on the diet although I miss my sweets. I prescribe "Heather's Tummy" to my patients
I am a primary care physician and have many patients with IBS and other related GI problems. First recommendation - stop all dairy. If that doesn't work - stop all gluten. At the same time - use a refrigerated probiotics and get Heather's Tummy Acacia bark fiber. While it doesn't work for everyone - I'm getting very good results with a number of patients. I suggest you try it if you suffer with IBS and have not been able to figure out why.

I love this fiber - its much less harsh (but also not as mass producing) as others I've tried. The trade off is well worth it. I will be getting travel containers and buying the large refill bags in the future. Buying the small pouches is not cost effective; I would be going through a box every 3 days on a trip.

Best Fiber Ever!
I was diagnosed with IBS two years ago. I was struggling daily to find foods that wouldn't cause me problems and medicines that would help until I found Heather's Tummy Care. After being home bound for at least 15 years due to suffering from IBS-D, I found Heather's Tummy Fiber and it completely turned my life around. This was my last hope

IBSD for 1 1/2 years &'have tried everything from conventional medicine to holistic to Ayurveda, on and on. Gluten free diet for 2 yrs and can find no trigger foods. Hoped this would work, started about month ago upmtom2'packets a day. No change. Soooooo sad,

Hi Melissa - I am so sorry you are struggling, and have been for so long. Are you trying to resolve diarrhea, constipation, or alternating?

The fiber is likely not helping you yet because your dose is still so very low. The starting dose is 2 grams per day total (that would be one packet total) but you need to gradually increase that, and continue increasing until you are stable. If you're only at one packet twice daily, that's still quite low - about 4 grams total. It's not uncommon for diarrhea to take 10-15 grams per day to resolve, and constipation can often take 20-30 grams per day.

Please try to gradually increase your dose and see if symptoms start to resolve. You're just at such a low daily dose right now it's not anywhere near enough to resolve either diarrhea or constipation.

Fiber On The Go!
These little travel packs are wonderful for going on trips, stashing in your purse, or for giving to a friend for use as a "sampler". These little things go with me everywhere! Hi Judith - Thank you very much for the feedback. Please be sure you have started with the low dose of 1/2 travel packet twice daily (that's 1/2 teaspoon of the fiber, twice daily).

You'll need to gradually increase that dose every 3-4 days or so, by about an extra 1/2 packet each time. This means you'll work your way up to 1 packet twice a day, then 1 1/2 packets twice a day, then 2 packets twice a day, etc.

Diarrhea typically resolves at around 1-3 tablespoons per day, constipation can take 2-5 tablespoons per day. If you need the higher dose range, the travel packets are great for convenience but not so much for practicality at the larger doses. The Tummy Fiber cans and refill pouches are much more economical and practical for taking larger daily doses at home.

Please go slow and steady but continue to gradually increase your dose, and you should see diarrhea/constipation improve as you go and then resolve as you reach the dose your gut needs for stability.

I got food poisoning a few years ago and haven't been the same since. I've tried all sorts of fiber supplements/food and some worked while others made my symptoms worse. Recently diagnosed with SIBO and put on a low fodmap diet. It's helping to some extent. A Godsend has been Heather's IBS Diet Cheat Sheet. While I still have some issues with the soluble fibers on the list, definitely the insoluble and trigger foods I had real big problems. It's been an uphill battle, but the Tummy Fiber seems to be helping out. Definitely better than Metamucil.

Having had 16 inches of colon removed, I have suffered with explosive diarrhea for 3 years. Having been on the product for over a month I am happy to report I no longer suffer from this issue. I skipped a few days just to see... Well again I started with the diarrhea . I am now integrating fruit and veggies into my diet which I have not tried for several years I increased to 2 teaspoons a day and feel like I have conquered my eating issues.. For the Tummy Fiber Acacia to work properly, it's crucial that you start with a low dose (1/2 teaspoon twice daily) and gradually increase to a dose high enough to resolve diarrhea (often 1-3 tablespoons per day) or constipation (which may be 4-5 tablespoons a day). If you get gas or bloating, that means that you increased your dose too quickly.

It can take several weeks to gradually increase up to the dose you'd likely need to resolve constipation, and unfortunately you can't rush this. Tummy Fiber is not a drug or a laxative so it won't work overnight

Definitely Helps
I've ordered these products before both the fennel tea and the acacia fiber. The tea makes my insides feel better even though I am not a huge fan of fennel. The fiber is very easy to mix into liquid or applesauce. It's tasteless and doesn't alter the taste of what it's mixed into. I would recommend trying them out.

Life Saver in a tiny packet
I started the tummy fiber last week in small doses. Using the travel packets made it easy to open and pour half into my cold drinks the first week. I am seeing remarkable improvement in my bowels no matter what I eat. I even attempted a barbeque pork sandwich and had NO issues with it which is normally a killer for me the next day. Gas is much less, cramping is almost nill. I make sure I take it in before I eat in the am and before dinner. Best way for me is in Gatorade, no taste, no smell, no residue in any cold drinks but a little clumping in hot teas. I highly recommend you try this, I have found great success for my IBS with it and I was very skeptical!!! One other improvement is very normal BM's for the last few days....

This product is great! I have been dealing with this condition for over 30 years
I have the diarrhea type. This condition can really tear up your core. I work fulltime, days, and I am up every morning around 2am, while my system rids itself of the food I ate the day before at 4pm!. Fantastic supplement to help for IBS-D
I have been suffering with IBS-D for about 3 years. Didn't know what was really wrong with me for a while, just that everything I ate reacted badly in my stomach. I tried so many things...probiotics, enzymes, etc. It wasn't until I added this fiber (and the fennel tea and DGL) to my diet that I started healing. This product really helps me out with constipation.

I am really pleased with the help this has given me for some problems with cramping.

The acacia fiber is meant to resolve diarrhea and constipation. We recommend starting with 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily. Every 4 to 5 days, increase your total dose by 1/2 teaspoon. To resolve diarrhea, you will eventually need 1 to 3 tablespoons a day and to resolve constipation, you will need 3 to 5 tablespoons a day.

If your main symptom is gas and bloating, I recommend you try Heather's Fennel Tummy Tea instead. Our fennel tea bags are packed for medicinal strength. Fennel tea will quickly relieve gas and bloating.

This really works
I suffer from IBS-D. For many years, my symptoms were well-controlled by medication and careful eating. However, when I developed a serious side effect from the medication and had to discontinue, careful eating did not alone control my symptoms. Peppermint just made me sicker, so I was looking for something that might work. I decided to give the Tummy Fiber a try. The results have been mostly wonderful, though to be honest, I do still have an occasional flare. (Who doesn't, with IBS?) I find the travel sticks to be the most convenient, though not necessarily the most economical. I am stabilized at one packet a day. I find oatmeal the best thing in which to dissolve the fiber. One small complaint: It does have a tendency to form tiny clumps, more noticeable in liquids than in a thicker moist food. I recommend the Acacia Tummy Fiber.

Love the convenience and ease of use!
I've been using Heather's Acacia Powder for years and it's wonderful--has helped me immensely! This was the first time I've used the travel packs. I loved being able to tear them open at the notch easily. They are very handy to throw in your bag/purse and then you're all set. My ONLY issue with them was they only hold 1 tsp of powder per tube. I take 2 TABLESPOONS of powder in the morning and 2 TABLESPOONS at supper. So for me I needed to use 6 tubes in the morning and 6 more for supper. I wish you could make these travel packs that would hold 1 tablespoon each for ppl like me who take a higher dose. (in addition to these 1 tsp tubes for those using a lesser amount) Then I would have only have to use 2 tubes each time instead of 6. Also, because I take such a high dose it was kinda expensive to use the travel tubes BUT the convenience it gave me by not having to drag along my big container of powder and my tablespoon and my knife to level it off was well worth the expense to me! I will definitely use these again next time I fly somewhere!

Amazing Acacia!

I bought these to keep in my desk drawer at work. One hour before lunch, I drink one with a 20 oz. container of water and it works like magic. I have not had a bought of D since using these. This product works miracles . The answer to IBS
This is the answer to IBS. Before I had this fiber I was very sick every day with IBS. Now I feel like a normal person when I use it 3 times a day. Usually before meals, and sometimes before bed time. I buy the packets for when I'm away from home. It is so easy to travel with.

Tummy Fiber Travel Stick Packs

These travel stick packs make it easy to put in my purse and have when needed, but they are really hard to open. Would be nice if they were easier to open as I have to carry something to open them with. I will probably not order them again as I can put some out of my regular can in a plastic bag or bottle.

Our newest design for our travel packets includes an easy to open laser tear notch at the top of the packet. Sometimes, the notch goes unnoticed - it is indicated with a white arrow at the spot where you can easily tear the top of the packet off.

Please try the notch again and see if that makes it easier to open.

I am so glad to hear that you are starting to feel better after taking Heather's Acacia Senegal Tummy Fiber!

The acacia fiber can often alleviate diarrhea within a few days, because it takes the lower end of the dose range. However, with constipation, the fiber can sometimes take several weeks to fully resolve symptoms, as it often requires a gradual increase to a higher end of the dose range.

Be sure to increase your dosage gradually by just 1/2 teaspoon every 4 to 5 days until you stabilize.

Hi there Sandra,

Every person with IBS is different, so each person requires a different amount of Acacia Tummy Fiber to stabilize. When you are just beginning to use the fiber, we recommend starting with 1/2 teaspoon, twice daily. Then, increase your dose gradually every 4 to 5 days until you stabilize. At that point, you can remain at whatever dosage you are taking.

Some people are able to remain at low dosages at an average of 1-2 tablespoons per day (typically those prone to diarrhea), but some people, particularly those with IBS-C, need to work up to the maximum end of the dose range (4-5 tablespoons per day).

I am sorry that you're finding that you need to take a higher dosage of the fiber than you originally thought, but I hope that you are feeling better!

While the travel packets are great for the convenience, for using the fiber at home it is more practical and economical - especially for larger daily doses - to use the one pound canister and the bulk one pound refill pouches for the canister.

I like the new size - it fits in my purse easiy

I do not like the tear strip - it's much to hard to rip open with my arthritic fingers. I carry a small knife to open these packets. I would rather not carry a knife.

I can only tolerate 1 packet a day of this potion as it makes my ears ring really bad at 2 packets a day. Less gas and cramping,wayyy better than Metamucil or other drug store brands.

These are great! My IBS likes to turn things to cement. And after not having any symptoms for YEARS my old friend has decided to visit again. :( I've been taking these for about 2.5 weeks now and I'm not sure if I need to up my dose or not - there are still some days where my "movements" are very small and hard to get rid of. But for the most part its like clockwork every morning and sometimes in the afternoon too. :) Which makes me a very happy girl. I'm also drinking the Fennel Tea and Peppermint Pills.

I used to take a little plastic jar filled with tummy fiber with me; now I can throw these little packets in my suitcase and don't worry about having to measure. Love them.
